Ahhhh now here it is... some one blew up your Capital Ship. now I understand. I had a friend when I was a kid that used to throw my little plastic ships against the wall whens I sunked his battleship.
No, I have no problem dying, but a "hit and run" ship should have to run now and then. Juvenal comments are for when one has run out of arguments

But not by blowing it up alone.

The Enterprise E destroyed the cube by guarding key allies (aka healing), tanking the cube to keep it busy and calling out a target of opportunity to the team.

Ah, now we get to the heart of the matter. You think that just because "capital ships" (cruisers) are the icon ships of the Star Trek IP, that they should be the be-all end-all ship in STO. There is one little problem with that opinion... GAME BALANCE. When designing multiplayer video games, balance comes first. ALWAYS. If Cryptic were to follow the precedent set by the shows/movies, cruisers would destroy everything, bops would explode from one photon torpedo, and everybody in lol ground would die in one shot. Is that really what you want? When playing a video game, you have to set aside what is "official" or "canon" in favor of balancing the game in a way that is fun for all parties involved.

I look at beams as tools used to compliment the targeting shield system and subsystem abilities. Seriously if your good with that you wont need your weapons power at or above 100 have two beam arrays handy and load up the rest with torps and save your power for shields engines and aux for tanking and pulling more tricks out of your hat. Tactical/escort pilots dont have that advantage. Yeah were ****** strong but other than that were a simple folk

I see some of what the OP is saying here.

However, you can be viable with a beam-boat using the min/max method. It helps to think outside the box from the easy design that Cryptic gave us in this game. IE; escorts-DPS, crusiers-tank, sci-healers. I use a tac in an excel for the extra DPS (at some cost of tank). I run 1 power transfer console so I only use 6 beams, I run HY 3 for when those shields come down, etc etc etc.

I've taken MVAEs 1 vs 1 in my beam-boat and can tank the alphas of a Def-R also provided there is not another one handy and nearby. It can be a long fight in which you have to use the other powers that you have also, not just the fire-powers in the 2- 3 tac slots your given. I can get off a 30K RS at times which is certainly hard for any ship to come back from.

It can be done. It's just not the "senseless, no thinking, fly in a circle while spamming new FaW for the win" that your going to get here from some of the escort pilots.

Now, if FaW gets NERFed into oblivian, I will probably be right there with you OP, saying beams, (at that point) will need some help.

Actually it took focus fire from the entire team to take down the cube, just like it takes focus fire to take down targets in STO.

Amazing how that works, isn't it?

Watch less tv-series and spend more time learn how make some serious build.

And no offense, the only B.S. here is this "please give me megauberincredible beam cause escort pwn me QQ"

When the only things works well in STO is just beams. LOL.

There is simply no more argument to be made....

What is it that is so under powered with beam. You have failed to make any real argument, so I assume your simply sour as there is no meat to your words.

Is it the range to hit issues with beams? Oh ya there is no range to hit issues
Is it the rate of fire you don't like?
Is it the Firing arc?
Is it the general Dmg numbers?

I don't get what area you think they need love in ? I have no issues pretty much keeping up with most escorts in the dmg department with my sci ship that sports a total of 4 beams ? Cruiser wise, ya my cruiser does so so dmg, but that is because a cruiser isn't really intended to be a dmg ship... having said that I have played with DEM EWP and Target Shields on a cruiser to effect very very good KILL numbers.

So please tell us how your cruiser is loaded so we can point you in a new direction if you are having issues with it doing dmg (If that is what your going for... as again your "Captial" Ship isn't really intended to out dmg the warships... um I mean escorts)
