I think the logical choice for Star Wars fans seeking a new home would be TOR.

I suppose we could see some poking their heads in to check out STO, but it does offer a very different MMO experience than SWG. Then again, from the looks of it, so will TOR.

STO and SWG are absolutely nothing alike, so I doubt it.

The character development options are similar, but thats about it.

This. Most of the refugees would be more likely to go with SW: TOR instead I would say.

STO needs lightsabers

I don't know, the original skill tree system of SWG reminds me a little bit of the skill system in STO. Also visually they are sort of similar (I'm reminded of SWG sometimes when playing STO). However, you're right the games are very different, especially as SWG is today.
