# 1 Star Trek on Netflix
07-01-2011, 07:32 AM
I have to admit, I've only seen a handful of TOS episodes. So I've been very eagerly awaiting the arrival of Star Trek to Netflix Instant Streaming today. Much to my dismay, TOS only has Seasons 2 and 3. My goal all along has been to watch it all in order (with the exception being DS9, which won't be available until October)

So, here's my question to you TOS buffs out there: Can I start watching Season 2, at least until Season 1 shows up? Or should I patiently wait until Season 1 arrives and then start watching?

The Original Series has no continuity between itself. Each season is a bit unique in terms of feel, but there's nothing to worry about story-wise.

The only exception I can think of is Harry Mudd. He appears in a very early season one episode and then again in another episode later on. Not sure if both episodes were in season 1 or if one is in season 1 and the other is in season 2.

Regardless, if you catch them out of order, it doesn't really matter. Not a lot of back story is needed to get the character.

I just noticed the 'NEW Episodes' flag on my Instant watch queue for TOS, and it appears that Season 1 has now been added to the list. Looks like you won't have to skip it after all.

Now, all that's missing is Deep Space Nine...

The Organian Peace Treaty ("Errand of Mercy", season 1) does have an impact on subsequent Klingon episodes ("The Trouble With Tribbles", "Friday's Child", etc.) to the extent of preventing all out war between the UFP and Klingon Empire, forcing both parties to be more circumspect with their conflicts (proxy wars, economic competition, etc.).

It will be in October. Might have something to do with DS9 having a different Executive Producer.

Awesome. I have them all (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT) on either dvd or blu-ray. I just love having them all online so I can hop back and forth between shows without having to pull out the disk and putting it into my PS3. Yes, I am that lazy.
