Looking forward to all your feedback!

1. On my main I flew Cruisers exclusively. Mind you, I've had this toon since launch. My alts have flown the other 2 types, and all wereabout on equal footing.

2. My 2 max level toons fly cruisers. My main (tac) uses a Sovereign w/ AP beam arrays, the Aegis set, and 2 quantum torps.

My eng uses the Excelsior-R w/ tet cannons and turrets and shields from the emblem vendor.

I fly the same set up for Pve and PvP for both toons and both hold their own fairly well

3. I think the Excelsior is a little too capable, but thats the canon-mizer in me, lol.

4. I think the T5 science ships are UP. I've tried the Destiny and Luna SV's and They just don't dish the damage, and shields melt fairly quickly, especially against the Borg. Shield tanking should be improved a little.

5. I like the versatility of the Sovvy and Excelsior. I can take damage, dish it, and heal well enough. Hull tanking is manageable, and holding off a few enemy players in PvP is very satisfying.

Idk, I live the sovereign and find it almost perfect, except for the TR being just a little slower than I like.

1. I stick to type specific ships - cruisers for engineers etc. And I stick to PvE, although occasionally dabble in Ker'rat for some nice loot. Usually on my own, but DSEs and Warzones are grouped.

2. Again I stick to the type specific ships, with the exception of the Nebula which I use for all my characters. Mainly because it's one of my favourite ships, but also because it work's well with all Captain abilities, without feeling like you're missing anything. Most ships feel like they are geared towards a specific profession.

3. & 4. I think most ships are fairly balanced, but then I don't do PvP.

5. I only use canon ships, from the TNG/DS9/VOY era just because that's how I like to play the game. However I love the mixed configurations of ships like the Nebula (ie. being a Science ship, but having access to Lt. Cmdr. Engineering skills, and having the Universal Lt. slot) and Prometheus (Escort with Lt. Cmdr. Science skills), and would like to see a lot more of this.

I have to dig in my memory for this question, as I levelled my main toon at the launch of STO, here goes:
  • Lieutenant: Miranda class, light cruiser
  • Lieutenant Commander: Sabre class, escort
  • Commander: Akira class, heavy escort
  • Captain: Galaxy class, exploration cruiser
  • Rear Admiral and upwards: Sovereign class, assault cruiser
I used each of these ships for PvE, PvP (it was rare then), group and solo play.

2. What ship(s) do you fly at cap? For each, primarily PvE, PvP or both? Group or solo?
I fly all the time my Sovereign class cruiser. So I use her in every situation.
Quote:
3. Which ship(s) do you think are currently overpowered? PvE, PvP, or both? Specifically why?
PvP:
  • Hegh'ta Bird of Prey: They are capable to keep their shields and hull indefinitly up and deal out more damage than an escort/raptor in an engagement. In the lower tiers it is a good trade-off to have a fragile but versatile ship, but in endgame PvP this doesn't apply anymore: they buff theirself to withstand concentrated weapon fire like a galaxy class cruiser. In arena matches it's worst, because if you manage to get a Hegh'ta's defenses down, they'll escape and outrun any federation ship and use battle cloak to get off-radar.

4. Which ship(s) do you think are currently underpowered? PvE, PvP, or both? Specifically why?
PvE:
  • Scimitar Dreadnought: Sure, it has this big blasting weapon that can destroy you, but being able to defeat them by bleedthrough the shields with your weapons makes the battle lame. I've seen it enough times that often the shields were still up and the scimitar goes boom. It misses the epicness from the Star Trek Nemesis battle. Especially in Cutting the Cord is such a case where it regularly happens.
  • Borg Cube: They are too easily destroyed in a 1 vs. 1 encounter. It's disappointing to not see a bigger challenge here.

Soverign class isn't only supposed to look gorgous, she's also very balanced ship station- and console-wise. Be a classic tank/healer, go for a more aggressive approach against your enemies or control the battle flow. Each of it is possible, while of course the aggressive and control of battle flow aren't as equally done as an escort or science.

For my tactical officer I ground up with the Miranda, Sabre, Akira, Defiant, and Prometheus. I didn't do much in the way of PvP during the level grind. I waited for VA to dive in to PvP.

I fly the Defiant Refit in all things. PvP, PvE, group and solo-play. The only downside to this ship is the bugged cloaking device.

I don't currently believe that any of the ships can be defined as 'over powered'. I think the Assault Cruiser should be given the turn rate of the Excelsior. It's a far newer ship, I don't see why a 200 year old refit should be superior than a modern starship. That's just my opinion though.

I'm a firm believer that some of the canon Starships in the lower tiers are 'Underpowered' and here's why. The Dominion War was thirty years ago, yet we still have ships that were purposefully built to fight the Jem'Hadar, and the Borg less capable than ships built in the same era. Case in point, the Sabre, Akira and Sovereign were all constructed in the 2360s-2370s. All three classes of ship were on site for the Second Battle of Sector 001, and the Sabre and Akira were front line ships heavily involved in the War.

Yet we find that both the Sabre and Akira are on par or marginally better than an Oberth, Miranda, or 2250s Constitution-class? Granted, the TOS Connie is more of a gimmick than an actual in character ship of the line but it's in the game.

My favorite ship and the one I fly are two different things. I'd have to say that the NX-class is my favorite ship design, while the end game Escorts would be my favorite to fly. I'm a firm believer that because the NX-class is a 'Replica' and not an actual ship taken out of mothballs, that it could be given a T5 designation with minor fuss. Probably as an science based Escort, ala the Prometheus. Maybe Excalibur Saucer and Nacelles as an alternate costume.

1.
T1 - I've tried TOS Connie, NX, and Miranda. I think I'd play te NX from now on in this category, though I do like the Miranda configurations I've made. The grappler is interesting to use.
T2 - My Tac went Nova (my personal favourite Fed ship) I've barely tried the Cruiser, and the Saber is growing on me with my sci.
T3 - So far only my tac has gone this far and Remained in the Nova.
T4 - Again Tac stayed in the Nova (brief stint in a defiant class to use a dropped weapon to earn a damage accolade)
T5 - Don't recall if my tac qualifies for this yet or not I think so at RA levels, but, yep, still flying the Nova...
KDF is all BoP class ships when I play there. I've always liked those designs.

1.a. Primarily PvE, some short stints with PvP. I just never really played PvP much, and probably won't considering that I prefer to fly a ship ~3 tiers below my current level allows.

1.b. Solo, mostly because I want to actually read the stories instead of just blowing through the missions, and I don't recall if this was ever addressed but teammates could progress the dialog even if you wanted to read it.

2. What ship(s) do you fly at cap? For each, primarily PvE, PvP or both? Group or solo?
2. I have not technically hit cap yet. I'll probably still be flying the Nova on my tac assuming I don't get to a point where I actually 'can't' advance with that ship.

4. Which ship(s) do you think are currently underpowered? PvE, PvP, or both? Specifically why?
3. I have not delved in to the specifics of this.
4. Same as 3, I haven't taken the time to compare ships mechanically.

5. What feature of your favorite ships do you like the most? As in, console configurations, station configurations, aesthetics, special abilities, etc.?
5. I am pretty much an Aesthetics guy, it needs to look 'pretty' to me for me to want to use it. If I can't come up with a configuration I like I probably won't use the ship, I even took to copying my character over to tribble 3x each rank up just to play with the sip customizations available... Unfortunately I found I don't really like alot of the ship classes :/
That's not really much of a problem KDF side as all the BoP variants have the same aesthetics that I prefer for them, they just differ in the specifics.

I have not gotten so indepth to analyze the configurations or special abilities.
I just focused my Sci and Eng Bo powers on survivability as I'm flying a 'weaker' ship and leave the damage boosting to my Tac captain skills and the single Ensign Tactical slot I have.

Though I think most of the special abilities I"ve heard of have been interesting and support them. (balance issues aside)

First time I levelled a character, I mained cruisers.

After that:-
I levelled every Fed character using escorts, PvE and PvP, largely solo.
I levelled every Klink characer using cruisers (after T2 since I dislike the K'tanco), PvE and PvP, solo.

2. What ship(s) do you fly at cap? For each, primarily PvE, PvP or both? Group or solo?
For PvP I fly Fed escorts and Klingon cruisers (specifically the Vorcha equipped with 4xDual Heavy Cannons), ungrouped.

For PvE I generally try to fly cruisers, for a more authentic Trek feel (and I like the aesthetics). I tend to do the dailies solo, but have grouped from time to time when my fleet is busy.

Quote:
3. Which ship(s) do you think are currently overpowered? PvE, PvP, or both? Specifically why?
Escorts for both PvE and PvP.

Escorts have enough tanking abilities and shielding to resist most NPC ships. This, combined with their ability to deal out damage, means they're great for getting through PvE missions with the least amount of effort.

While they most certainly can't tank as well as cruisers/sci-ships, they are not remotely squishy. A combination of manoeuvrability, their innate 10% defense bonus, attack pattern omega, attack pattern delta and not so low hull and shields mean they can be rather tanky (hell, I've been able to tank a cruiser and an escort).

They also can wield 2 tact teams without compromising their firepower (in fact, it slightly adds to it).

Basically they have massive firepower, with only a slight cost in tanking. Hence why I fly one and why they are beginning to overpopulate PvP (along with sci ships, which seem to be replacing cruisers as the main healers/tanks).

Also a captain of any career is good in an escort (I'm an engineer in an escort), while a tac or sci in a cruiser is a liability.

A large portion of these problems (not all) were caused by the following:-
The addition of the +10 defense bonus to escorts
Changes in tact team (combined with other shield heal abilities, it acts rather like a mini-RSP)
Borg procs and Aegis defense bonus
Changes in shield/hull amounts (can't remember the exact season), where every ship received a buff.
Field Generator Mk XI (+35% shield capacity).

Carriers are also overpowered. When it's just one they aren't so much of a problem, but when you have 5 spamming BoP's (with battle cloak), the bleedthrough alone is enough to kill you.

Quote:
4. Which ship(s) do you think are currently underpowered? PvE, PvP, or both? Specifically why?
Cruisers (certain Klink cruisers less so, due to the ability to equip dual heavy cannons).

They just don't have any real firepower, atleast in comparison to escorts. Even the more tactically minded cruisers deal feeble damage. Sci-Ships make up for their lack of firepower with their sci abilities (charged particle burst and tachyon beam) and the sensor ability (which boosts damage the longer keep the enemy targeted).

In PvE this isn't so much a problem and is hardly noticeable, but in PvP it relegates them to being healers. As an escort captain, I keep a look out for tac/cruiser combos, because their rather easy to take down (even more so then tac/escorts). You can go 1 on 1 with most cruisers and not even worry. Basically they are slow lumbering targets waiting for me to shoot at them. Some may even be able to tank me, but hardly any will scratch my hull.

From a purely aesthetic point of view - Constitution refit, Excelsior, Akira and Sovereign class.
Special abilties - I like the spinal lance, it gave the Gal-X some much needed spike/burst damage.
Station configurations - MVAM.

I've flown every ship, including every C-Store ship on Fed & Klingon side. I do PvE not PvP and both Group and Solo play.

Easily my favorite is the Nova class, given that in the Voyager final mission it was shown destroying multiple modern ships this would make a wonderful candidate for a refit. Failing that, have a Tier 2 normal version and a Tier 3 refit version with some extra BOFF slots & powers. (The Rhode Island refit would IMHO be overpowered at Tier 2 but would make a good Tier 3 refit)

In group play I generally fly escorts because a group can kill nearly PvE opponents before the "glass cannon" effect becomes pronounced.

In Solo I fly Science against most enemies but Cruisers against Borg (full hull tanking). I absolutely love the Galaxy and Nebula classes but almost never play them because they simply turn like freighters. Yes the Galaxy is a big ship but TNG showed it zipping around at times (when they had the budget) so there's no cannon reason for it. The Nebula class is actually supposed to be smaller than the Galaxy and should turn better than it.

At cap I'm either running STFs or helping people level, on my Tac I fly the MVAM Prommy. On my Eng I fly the Excelsior retrofit (largely for the ability to transwarp to most blocks - should be all though - but is also good in combat). On my Sci I'm flying the D'Kyr (for the looks) but previously I would alternate between the Luna and Intrepid refit classes which I love equally.

n/a I'm a PvE player not PvP so balance isn't a concern for me. However, the Rhode Island refit would IMHO be overpowered at Tier 2 but would make a good Tier 3 refit.

Galaxy & Nebula, only rate of turn is underpowered.

Aesthetics, I absolutely love the TNG "look". Clean and curvy with bold shapes. I also love the Emissary class star cruiser, it is a bold new direction in ship design.

For console configurations I would make 2 changes.
1) I would make a warp core console for each tier that you can move around so that if I want to play a lower level ship I could move the warp core over and have that increased power for my abilities - even though I would still be limited in BOFF powers (and so wouldn't be used in PvP and upsetting that balance)
2) For the new special ability consoles I would create a specific slot for those for the point of not letting them stack and cause PvP balance problems which would inevitably result in nerfing and making them useless.

For BOFF slots, on my Klingon alts I love the universal slots of the BoP. Because determining what kinds of slots partially determines what a ship does I wouldn't recommend doing this for all ships, but I would like to see the top/max BOFF slot for each ship be a universal, or if not for all then for the end level ships.

At level cap I REALLY hate the time it takes to go places, which is why I love my Excelsior so much. I'm also a max level diplomat, it's great that it comes with transwarps to DS9, K7, and Starbase 39, but it would be even better if it came with transwarps to each block. Would make that awfully long DXP grind much more worth it.

I would also much prefer that Slipstream wasn't on a timer and you just toggle on/off.

My main is a tac., he has flown every ship class out there except some of the C-store ships, he went up flying cruisers instead of escorts because he kept on getting killed to quickly in the escorts. Now that he is a vice admiral, he only has access to the defiant retrofit. Add more hitpoints to the escorts, I wanted to fly escorts as a tac but instead stuck with crusiers because of a high mortality rate

you so far have asked mostly about feedback pertaining to the exterior of our ships, but that's not what needs work. there is an entire forum and even several threads pertaining to the outside of the ships.

yet you can search the forums for the ship interiors and you'll notice there are way more complaining about how useless they are.

that's my feedback, most ships look fine, but all of them really, that is about all they do. looks are nice, i want them to do things, both inside and out! I understand you were hoping for more hey i use X ship, but hey that's not what you need.

we need more for them to do inside not the outside that works fine, the new consoles are cool and fun, but I want more inside my ship!

1. Escorts mostly for everything. Once I hit Captain/Admiral levels, I started buying the others (iconic ships, ie Galaxy, Sovereign, etc) as secondary ships to keep the game interesting.

2. MVAM Escort pretty much all the time. Once in a while, I'll hop into something different just to keep current.

3. Klingon Carriers are very OP in PvP because they can spam too many fighters and are themselves very tough to take down.

4. Retrofit Defiant. Give it a battle-cloak console to replace the Sci console it lost. Right now, the cloak is more a liability than an asset. On a side note, plain ol' phaser beams need a little boost to damage to bring it in line with other beams. For those of us who like to roleplay while playing, I don't want my Fed ship running odd beams just to compete.

5. The MVAM Escort just "feels right." Both it and the Defiant Retrofit have a good feel to them for Escorts (except Defiant needs battle-cloak).
