I really liked LOTR--one of the best book adaptations I've ever seen, if not in detail then in spirit.

I thought this got cancelled last year? Or did they finally work things out with the Tolkeins and/or get a nonbankrupt studio?

A couple months ago it started production. I've seen a few videos about it already with Jackson showing off everything.

It's going to be funny to see everything as it was before Frodo was even born. Haha maybe Aragon will sho up in the background seeing that he's 82 years old during The Two Towers. But yeah..that sword (don't ask me to spell it haha) is still in pieces, but at least Middle Earth was in a somewhat peaceful environment compared to when The Fellowship of the Ring took place.

I can't wait to see what Gollum looks like with better effects

Lord of the Rings is (or "are") IMO the best Movie(s) ever done...
Even if you dont like Fantasy, you have to tribute the flawless preformences of the actors, the love to details, the direction, the "right" use of extremly good special effects (to help the story instead of replacing it, like almost all other movies do it) ect.

I just hope the Hoppit wont become LOTRs "Episode 1-3" or "indiana Jones 4" equivalent, ruining the original movies backwarts....

Sorry ...LOTR was the most boring movie experiences I have aver had. I found Bridget Joness Diary (that my wife made me watch) more enjoyable. :p
