I mean, personally, I like Photonic Fleet in PvP. Not so much when I'm on a team with a lot of other Scis (because that just griefs the opposing team), but I've gotten some very nice Crits and damage from my Fleet.

Biggest problem with any photonic anything is it isn't real so it should not do real damage. I would be more in favor of it making minimap contacts and the ships that spawn in are holographic duplicates but do no damage but do everything a real ship would but there would be 5 of them bu only 1 does real damage. Visually you would not know which one is real but as you shoot at them they disperse but reconstitute during the duration.

This looks like another case of PVP'ers trying to dictate what is to be in STO. Cryptic needs to find a way to switch off certain items in PVP while allowing it to be kept and used in game by PVE.

Oh, please.

Throughout this thread, we've constantly mentioned that whatever changes we propose need to be balanced for PvE as well - that's why most of the changes feature some sort of damage component to them.

why take it out? whats next, taking away CRF3 and high yield torpedo? just destroy the science ship. space pvp is sorta like a very hard chess game. kill the king and the rest of the pieces are worthless.

Does CRF3 or HYT spawn a bunch of contacts that clutter targeting? Then the need to be revamped as well. But the last time I used them, they didn't.

What has the science ship got to do with it? It's a Science Captain ability, Science Captains can be found on any type of ship.

Photonic Fleet is a Captain power, removing an entire Captain power from one class only is hardly increasing the balance in PvP.

What needs to be done is making abilities work both in PvE and in PvP. And so any change to PF would need to be good for PvE as well, obviously.

Spam sucks - ruins PvP - people exploit PF and it should be replaced. There is no reason PF ships should dammage a real ship.. if they do, then every time one of those PF ships fires, it needs to take away from the players power, etc. Same thing when their shields get hit, it should take away power from players ship, etc.

better of just making them decoys like they are supposed to be..

or just give us devices that we can fire off that make all PF ships go away. and while we are at it, another device to fire off that makes all mines blow up..

Photonic fleet is ok, but its the abusing of people what makes it annoying (For some)
Photonic Fleet + Scramble anyone? Same for mines.

I'd rather see other aspects of the game be more balanced.

Cruiser = Uber healing and tanking
Science = Remove all current buffs of target (Which could mean ALL) and on top of that put them all on a long cooldown
Tactical = .... Nerfed Tactical Abilities anyone? Go down fighting -> let yourself be killed to like 50% hull then try and do some damage? FOMM a slightly beefed up variant of Attack pattern Beta.

Tactical initiative? Not very decisive in battle. What if Tactical initiative would be the (weaker variant) and somesort of counter against Subnuc indirectly? Apply Tactical initiative to ALL tactical abilities inclusing your capain abilities. (Hence this is the CASE on ground) Why? Subnuc removed all the captain abilities as well, why doesnt Tactical initiative also apply on captain abilities? That would make things a little more fair if you ask me.

Then an escort would have a little more chance against a cruiser as well, since a reasonable cruiser is hardly defeatable. (RSP, RSF, EPTS3 x2, TSS2, HE1, AuxToSif3)

And dont call for canon or how things should be in startrek, its still a game, and I never saw a fed ship firing Polarons, I never saw Holoships actually fire weapons, even have real hull, do i have to continue? :p

So I dont wanna hear anything about 'Escorts shouldnt be able to take out both cruiser or science ship of the same level'

Its a game, all classes should be perfectly balanced. Period

For the spam, its not such a big deal if they would make an option to remove the reticle/hud overlay of mines and other crap without adjusting another aspect of the hud.(Because this is often the main reason of the lag with mines and stuff, when i disable the hud overlay completely the game still runs smooth with dozens of mines) And they should revamp Scramble while they are at it.

I try not to use photonic fleet at all in PVP, personally. The only time I use it is if I am in real trouble (almost like fleet support) and I need something to draw fire away from me.

I find it firstly, a better match if I can get out of it without using it (it's amazing how many PVP matches I have come out of unscathed without spawning it once). I also rarely use fleet support on my other toons.

Secondly, I have been in those 15-1 matches where the other team just spams photonic fleet, fighters and mines to create so much random crap floating around that it lags everyone to the point where we can't do anything but fly around and die.

I think that's what the OP is really getting at, and not everyone has a top of the line system that can handle all much stuff flying around.

So, out of courtesy I try to lay off those abilities.

I am a little annoyed here.

Many people are complaining about spam of mines and pets and are advocating for a reduction of pets.

But seriously, while i agree that spam can be annoying at times, i do not think it is that much gamebreaking and it would not be a problem at all if the GUI had a few more options for acquiring targets.

As a Vo'Quv Carrier owner, i would be very very angry if i were limited to 4 or 5 pets deployment. That would not be much of a carrier anymore imho. I like deploying multiple squadrons of To'Duj. The carrier is maybe the only STO ship where you really feel like you are in control of a capital ship and i would not like it to become just another cruiser with 2-3 pets...
