# 1 Game crash and no support?
07-10-2011, 12:16 PM
Well, the issue is pretty straight forward, as my game crashed shortly after pressing the "engage" on the first patch screen. I do not even get to the character selection.

My system is a W7 64bit SP1 directX11 and it was working fine on live and trivbble before S4 went live.

Now, I tried the following:
  1. Open a ticket (3 days and no answer???!!)
  2. Updated my ATI video driver (no change)
  3. Updated all audio drivers and other W7 patches (no change)
  4. Removed all running programs and opned up teh firewall fully (so only launching STO) .. still crashing
  5. Removed my ATI and added my old Nvidia 9800GT again, latest driver, repeat all of the above and still no change

This is seriuosly frustrating and some sort of support would be good. I was looking forward to S4 and I am not sure what went so wrong when it was fine on Tribble for me to play.

oh one thing did improve since Thursday. Today I could log on to Tribble again. I did not see any patch, but maybe there is some hope.

Since Tribble login now works, any suggestions of files I could copy over to the live installation?
The force verify does not find anything wrong, so it is pretty much guess work on my side.

todays update .. no change.

I can log into Tribble without issues and the game crashes right at the beginning of the cryptic logo, force scan still does not change a thing, still no answer to any customer support ticket.

Try to delete or berst rename the prefs file on Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\star trek online\Star Trek Online\Live\localdata and then run again the game, perphaps your problem is with the prefs.
I hope it works.
