# 1 BOP Engineer?
07-23-2011, 07:13 AM
I searched around a bit on this topic.

The only build I found mentioned was someone who ran an Engineer BOP centered around Eject Warp Plasma and Emergency Power to Engines, but without further explanation.

So, are there successfull Eng BOPs out there?
What build?
Is that viable in PvP?

What weapon loadout?

And how do they look at lower tiers??

Engineer Bird is below average, and definitely the worst class for a bird. It doesnt do anything particularly good, and when you get SNBd youre still just as squishy as any other bird class.

So as for your questions:

1. No, never seen an engineer bird do anything impressive

2. If you do go Engineer bird anyways, stick with the commander tactical ltc science bread and butter. Rapid Fire, Torp HY and PSW I are a must.

3. The skill level isnt too high in pvp, so nearly anything can be "viable" in pug matches. /With or against a real premade, youre not going to do much.

Weapons for engineer....

3 DHC Phasers (I think there is Acc CrtH Dmg available for emblems)
1 Quantum Torpedo (Acc CrtD Dmg)
2 Phaser Turrets (Acc CrtH Dmg again I believe)

No idea how they are at lower tiers, probably better than at top tier though.

Against a pre made it doesn't matter what you fly. Unless you're in a pre made yourself you're toast.

As Beagles says an engineer in a BoP is the least effective of the three classes simply because an engineer's biggest advantage is the ability to hull heal - and a BoP's hull is just too low for that to be any real advantage to an Engineer.

So 9 times out of 10 you'll wind up using pretty much the same boff layouts as a tactical officer, only without the additional tactical abilities.

Its certainly viable, but you'll feel under-powered when you see a tactical officer doing things in the same ship that you can't.

Nah, an engineer can do well in pug v pug Cap and Holds or even Arenas. Emergency power transfer is a great all purpose skill, and if you like pug vs. pug combat where there's a lot more variables in play, then engineer / bops would be just fine.

These matches aren't very serious, but really why should they be? I pug for the fun of it, and it's just good times all things considered. (except when you face a pug full of experienced pvp'ers and your side's full of wesleys... then it's just lolz)
