# 1 Defeating Rebecca Simmons?
07-11-2011, 06:31 PM
Hi,

I'm having one hell of a time with Infected. My first time doing the mission was after S4, so I don't fully know how things used to be, but I've yet to finish the mission as it stands now.

We get to the last room. Each group has managed to get the virus upload process down quite smoothly. Then Rebecca comes out and obliterates us in thirty seconds. That's just the RA version, too. What is the trick?

We've tried the center platform, and since someone suggested it, we tried the rear platform. Lasted a bit longer on the back, actually, but that was it.

Hints to end this frustration?

Have each member of your team pick a corner spot and leave one in the center, stand in front of the virus terminals not behind, and dont run behind cause of plasma fires. and have plenty of DPS and hypos. Sniper Rifles seem to work best.

if possible, best team ive found, 2 sci, 3 tact, (Or 2 sci, 1 eng 2 tact)have 2 sci directly across from eachother on the platforms, tact with best DPS in middle, 2 tacts directly across on consols, everyone with sniper rifles, the 2 tacts clear the sci platforms and the center, the scis heal the tact in the middle who is shooting rebecca, when there are no more drones in teh room fire on rebecca
importantly keep the room clear, rebecca does no Dmg unless ur withen 25m of eachother, tactical drones should be ur main target, rebecca is just a distraction for teh tacts to whipe u

I've been spending time on the Tribble server, and on live, experimenting with the new Borg and the way they act/react to most things. I am not as cool as some of the other guys on the forums, breaking things down in math and other cool stuff, but I have a pretty good idea on, and what to do when. Hope this helps you:

1: Never, EVER use automatic weapons against the borg bosses (Minigun, auto assault...). Why?
Because it seems that every single little bolt that comes comes from this weapon counts as a single shot, so basically you end up having to remodulate your weapon after each shot... If you're lucky you get two off before she adapts.
Instead use sustained beams, or single bolt weapons, such as (as mentioned above) snipers, Split beam and High Density.

2: At all times make sure you have as much variation of weapon types in your group as possible. If your buddy brings Phaser and Disruptor, don't do the same... Bring Tetryon and Plasma instead. The Borg adapt to weapon types and not the individual char. If that means you have to bring a common weapon purchased off the exchange, so be it.
The reason for this is that if you all 5 fire at her with say... Tetryon, you basically get the same result as if you were one guy using a minigun: She adapts in a second.

3: Also make sure, that your secondary, and your primary are diffrent types of weapon. If she adapts to your primary, don't remodulate right away, switch weapons instead. Theres a chance she hasn't adapted to it yet.

4: If you're all alive and well, try modulating before she adapts. You need to keep a sustained damage on her, and if you all are remodulating at the same time, you end up giving her free roam for 4 full seconds.... wich will eventually kill you all.

Hope this helps you... I certainly helped me.

you are right about primary and secondary weapon types. they need to be different. to have to remodulate less. but the borg adapt to energy type/player.

patch notes:
http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...08&postcount=4

Borg now adapt to your weapons on a per-player, by energy type basis.

PS: if you still get wiped constantly by rebecca, try bringing an engineer with weapons malfunction and see what happens.

3 tac 1eng 1sci, 12 escotrs (4 per each with 3 tac initiative) start in middle spawn turrets, aggro escorts, they die pretty fast tho, run on sides, using 2type snipers , she died pretty fast tbh :<

You mentioned death in 30 seconds which sounds like her AOE attack. If someone gets the blue circle of death on them - DO NOT SHOOT REBECCA!!!!!! IF you do, it will cause a chain AOE attack which will hit all team members it can. This is bad because it pulses twice and i enough to knock shields and half health first pulse and kill on second. Like previous posters said, split up in the corner and on the center platform. I ran my sci on the center one and when I hit her with the neural neutralizer, she stood over me attacking my teammates. I just kept shooting her flank at close range. If a team member activates her AOE find cover. An eng with force field shield can hide behind that or just run away and prepare to heal people quickly. Get the re pops fast too, they do more damage from behind then anything.

This !

Also, have an engineer with Weapons malfunction to minimize the teamdamage ^^
Borg will be spawning, and yes, they will flank you. It hurts !
Use snipers for Rebecca Simmons. When borg spawn on your platform, go to them, and knock them into the plasma, while still firing at Rebecca Simmons

Hypo's are great. If you're tac, use Squad Leader or Focus Fire kit ^^

I ran this yesterday, from my experience I'd say make sure your entire team has a remodulator... twice I found most of my team either were not using or didn't have one entirely!

try and maintain a 25m gap, cover shields work well, though as I have an engineering alt I can see weapons malfunction working.

Also it seems no one I spoke to knew that you can use the railings as cover as of late, helps stop the borg drones on the platforms from firing at you.

One thing I did use was cryo grenades, it slows her right down so that AOE attack isn't as frequent.

Just some things to think about

Weapons Malfunction doesn't really do much against Rebecca except the potential expose effects. Nothing seems to nullify her freak beams.

This strategy has worked great for me and everyone I've led through Infected:

Highly recommended equipment: sniper rifle and pulsewave.

After clearing the room of trash and getting the generator shield down, send two people to each corner closest to the doorway. Put the fifth person on the ramp in front of the doorway (this person should be a medic or at the very least an engineer with shield recharge). Try to keep scis/engys with tacs.

The person on the ramp is there to support the two fire teams with heals and buffs, which is why medic is preferred. Do not engage Rebecca unless you're throwing things like nanoprobe infestation or dampening field on her. Do engage any trash that respawns where your teammates are to keep the heat off them.

The people in the corners are there to shoot Rebecca. Rebecca is fast, can fly, and has wicked ADHD. She will be up close in personal with one group at a time. If you're part of this group, use pulsewaves. If you're not part of this group, use sniper rifles for nice flank damage. If trash respawns, pulsewaves or your melee attack will easily knock them into the plasma without much fuss. If one of you falls, the flanking damage from the other two snipers will get her attention and she'll get all up in their business, leaving you able to heal/buff/whatever and revive your fallen teammate (which is why its good to keep scis/engys, who have more access to heals/buffs, with the DPS tacs).

After a few minutes, she's dead, and you get new engines.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the person on the ramp has cover from almost all of the trash and the people on the two corners will only get the attention of the trash in those corners... with this strategy you basically have to worry about half the trash of the room, plus you have a teammate nearby that can revive you if you go down.
