Thanks SO MUCH for all your support, and we'll see you in-game!
Anyway, when the game was in development before launch I watched a vid of one of the developers talking about some sort of Dynamic space travel where you could "explore unexplored space" He described it as warping through space and dynamic encounters popping up like a random ship having a distress call to finding a new planet to explore and take samples from even first contact. they described it as you cruise along and the content is randomly generated as you go." anyone remember this?
I recall this as well. His name's escaping me but I "think" it was DStahl's predecessor. I think the vision of the development team has always been to make us feel like we're actually in space. It's just taking a while to get there. DStahl has been a vocal proponent for opening up Sector space into one giant map without instancing and for exploration to have a much "larger" feel to it and different dynamics. Their desire is there, I think we're just waiting for the tech to catch up.
I'd be nice to combine the whole mega galaxy map concept, to where anomalies are just flat out everywhere in open space, as well as existing systems that can pop up as intended above. Those that pop up in set exploration space, still count to accolades as currently listed, but those in open space, count to a new accolade altogether, when outside of the exploration set areas. This could open up new ways to gain diplo xp, as well as new options for DSEs and DOFF encounters. Course this is all talk and conjecture, but I'd like to see this format someday, in some manner.
This would be good if you only had a limited time to log on or go palling around with a friend for a bit outside the beaten path. Having a Romulan uncloak in front of you while scanning some anomaly would be crazy! a mini game would be you answer a distress call from a freighter only to have to go to your bridge run to the transporter room and lock on to life signs and beam them aboard before the ship blows then transport those people to the nearest star base. the possibilities would be endless. Just little scenarios that would gain you some exp/credits and some fun. you could have a true neutral zone that could be guarded. NPC ships would guard it normally until you arrive and you would take over for one of the ships...more if your fleet was with you. Q could mess with you while out exploring also...(find yourself in a Neopolian War setting!)
This sounds like what marketing promised before ways before beta.
As it is now I'd be glad if we can get rid of sector space bounds and fly from A to B without having the stupid "We are ready to enter XYZ" Continue - Cancel conversation with my helmsman.
I told him to go to B why would he even ask if he should change into the sector it is in?

Its all about choice people. this game lacks it. I didnt want a sugar rush. if you have have a while to do something then go do samples or build something. dont make a game that is all a sugar rush and not content.
