# 1 Photonic Shockwave on Escorts
07-14-2011, 12:06 PM
I'm finding the use of Photonic Shockwave to be too good for an Escort in both PvE and PvP. So easy to stun a target and quickly finish it off with a nice BO3 shot or finished off by cannons.

I own both the MVAM and the BOP and am convinced this ability should be unavailable for these ships. And I trust Cryptic would review this and come to the same conclusion.

Respectfully, I highly disagree. And I don't even fly Escorts or have PSW on my BoP.

Instead of calling for nerfs all the time, how about asking for help on how to counter these things? Either predict when it's coming and buff yourself accordingly, or after it hits, turn your strong shield facing to the attacking ship.

At least the power could be renamed. Like Gravity Shock Wave for example. Photonic makes no sense at all with the way the power works. It would require so much light to have the effect that the other ship would be vaporized instead of just pushed a round a little.

Photonic Shockwave is named for an actual thing that happened in canon- specifically Voyager, where it did pretty much exactly what it does in STO- temporarily disabled a ship.

If you get hit by a Photonic Shockwave, you react too slow.
3 km. range = 7 km. flight till your ship.
If you can't use tac-team or anything else during that time, reflexes are missing

Not specifically meaning "YOU" (OP), but just people in general

EDIT : Besides, you get pushed, and after 1 second, you can steer ship again (Not use abilities)
Make strong shields face the enemy.

Just because you personally have a problem dealing with something doesn't mean that there is something inherently wrong with it. Sometimes the problem comes from within.
