Agree, that pop-up decloak is non-sense, and Defiant should have the cloak feature, don't need option console.

The Defiant should not have the cloak, none of the Fed ships should, but this thread isn't about taking it away for everyone. I'll admit to being a bit short sighted, I just wanted to have the option myself to fly around without the Cloak and without gimping myself (i.e. if the Cloak came at the expense of the Eng Console, it should be given back if the Cloak was disabled). I feel like the other escorts are different enough that this shouldn't impact them too much but I'm not the numbers guy. I'll concede that this could create some issues.

To be honest, I don't think it's paying for the cloak with the engineering console, it's paying for it's turn rate. The Raptor is the same in most regards, but has an extra engineering console. It's also noticeably more sluggish in manouvering. Since this is where the differences are between the two, I'd assume that this is what's being paid for, not the cloak. I think it's generally accepted that the Defiant outclasses the Raptor, since the manouverability aids it in its job far more than the Raptors engineering console aids it. Also, it's worth bearing in mind that even with a rare Mk XI RCS console, the Defiant is still more nimble.

having a console as the cloak could work...
though the ship that should have had a console is the Nebula.

anyway, The cloak works fine as is except for the dialog uncloaks...
also, not sure if it'd gain a console slot just for a cloak....

This and a hull adjustment to place it somewhere between the Fleet Escort and Bird of Prey in durability.

In my mind it should be a balance between durability and manueverability and a choice of spending a console spot on a cloak.

I think the defiant -R is fine as is, but would support having the cloak as a console and giving back a engineering console for those that dont want to use the cloak.

For those of you saying to nerf different aspects of this ship, remember that she was a tough, nimble ship from the series.

Yeah, buts lets not confuse tv "plot" to in game mechanics.

Some good ideas and view from everyone. Definately something to think about.

I'm not saying it should be nerfed there, or indeed anywhere. My point was just that exchanging the cloak for a console wouldn't make sense when that's not what the console is getting in return so to speak.

The only comment I can really make to this is that there are other escort options avaiable at that teir. The "Refit" classes contained a uniqe ability of each of its main Canon ships. The Defiant could cloak, the Enterprise saucer seperated, and Voyager was able to deploy Ablative armor (all-be-it only in Endgame). If you do not like the cloak perk that comes with the Defiant, maybe you would enjoy the Multi-vector Advanced Escort. The one thing I looked foward to was getting my cloaked Defiant, DS9 being my fav Star Trek.

The Intrepid's Ablative are isn't removable, and there is no way to fuse Galaxy's saucer section.

Yeah, with 30k base Hull and an extra Engineering Console slot, this would most assuredely put the Defiant-R above the Fleet Escort in both Damage and/or at least on parr with Survivability.

So I'm just going to say; "NO"
