Given a Vo'quv turning, less consoles and possibly 1 less Ensign slot.. I cannot see it nessecarily being better than say a SC or DSSV.. It would be a simple matter to have one ship push the Odyssey 20k away with evasive, battery and TBR
Unfortunately, I'm going to go ahead and bet the carebears will win out on this one.
"But it's the flagship you guys, it's supposed to be better than any and everything other there!"
I see it invalidating the Star Cruiser pretty easily. It's supposed to "appeal to everyone", and the only way to really do that is to slap some Universal slots on it while keeping a Commander Eng since it's a Cruiser. Unless they go with Mel's suggestion (2x Universal Lt), then it's most likely going to be LtC Universal. However, with basically any combination of Universal slots (even Ensign), it's going to be treading upon the existing AC/SC's toes.
The only drawback will likely be loss of a Console, though even that will probably be optional, like the MVAM console (as that is the direction they've indicated they'd like to go with all special abilities). Turn rate already sucks on a Cruisers, and it's not like you need to turn on a dime when healing anyways... but, here's to hoping for some balance.

This cannot be emphasized enough. Ultimately what we discuss is meaningless, simply because of numbers.
There are far more people who are pve experts (lolz) and want a ship that's better than their current fed ships. They'll use any justification to get a ship that's got the survivability of a cruiser, flexibility of a sci vessel, and deadliness of an escort.
Just go to the general forums or the fed shipyards forums, you'll see dozens of pve'ers who just want a super ship, and will probably still complain about "overpowered klingons" or "OP defiants" when they get owned by a decloak ambush.
I would be o.k. with the enterprise beeing overpowered, if it would actually be really hard to get.
(and i'm not talking about 2000 Atari tokens or something like that)

You are being optimistic..
Some people cant even fly their ship through HUGE rings orbitting a planet.
You know, thinking about it, I'd much rather see Boff powers get the smaller straw if it'd mean having the ship more mobile. No amount of cool Boff setups are going to make me want to use the thing if it's a pain to fly.
In retrospect, despite some of my own preferences and my being unmoved by the counter-arguments (which border on the disrespectful) seeing the loadout using the LtC station for Science in the same fashion as the Excelsior could be what I'd go for if I was aiming for more 'economy'.
It does overlap on the Star Cruiser, true. On the other hand, that didn't stop the Excelsior retrofit from doing what it did to the Sovereign.
