The stardates reads as 8761.4. There seems to be an error in this, it should read 8XXXX.X.

Well while the NX-01 did bear the name the NX-01 is likely long stricken from registry. Meaning that they now only count NCC-1701's towards the count. This makes sense plus it doesn't mess with canon, as the NX-01 still exists but is not part of federation starfleet or the same registry.

Edit to Xander's post: Ironicly when I calculated that date while we were looking at the plaque it came up as Karen Steele's birthday. She was in Mudd's Women.

The fact is NX-01 is a different registry then NCC-1701. Under the NCC designation Enterprise has indeed had 7 iterations. If we throw that in there you could also say any previous space fairing starship of the name enterprise is included in the line.

Plaque reads to bear the "name", not the "registry".

They don't include the name of the ship that helped FORM the federation? Even the US counts the ships under its service before the actual forming of the Union to be US ships.

Which is funny, because if you think about it the Double-E is the ship that started it all. Riker and Troi told Cochrane that they were from a ship named Enterprise. First Contact was in 2063, and 56 years later the NX facility to build the first Warp 5 Engine and the NX01. I think Cochrane had a hand in naming the NX-01

A bit of a stretch. The Enterprise was a historical and traditional name long before Gene came up with Star Trek. The most famous Aircraft carrier from WWII was called the Enterprise. In fact, it may be that ship's popularity that led to this ship being called Enterprise. If I recall correctly, Gene originally wanted it to be called the Yorktown.

It makes sense, they refer to the NX as pre federation ship. Now if you look at the wall in the meeting room with all the ships on it, it only counts USS ship, United Star Ship [USS] Enterprise, Numerical Command Code {NCC} 1701 to 1701 E.

Then perhaps they should change the wording. Perhaps the NX-01 isn't a "starship." For example, the current carrier Enterprise is the second carrier to carry the name, but it is the sixth name TOTAL in US naval history.
