Maybe I'm just bad at ground PVP, but over the last couple days I've been getting one-shotted by tacs constantly.

I have all purple gear, and I've specifically specced to be strong against massive damage dealing, yet it seems that every time I go into any ground PVP map, I'm walking along looking for a fight to have, and then someone whacks me with target optics and snipes me and oh, I'm dead.

So really, I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to not just die instantly constantly (I'm running a fed engie btw).

I have found my engie quit effective try this.
When you first see the enemy approaching put up a cover shield.
Also using a kit with weapons malfunctions and fuse armour helps lock tactís down, and then finish with a orbital strike when he is stuck in the one place.

Most tacs are running around with stealth so as to sneak up on you

None of these have helped, alas. (Yes, I've been sniped in the middle of a roll and still died in one hit)

Drop mines, if they go over them... lol they're dead and on some maps there's no way around them, the tac is then puzzled by what to do. Also stick with your team, I know I can maybe ambush a couple of players and win, but 4+ people? I stay back until I have an opening. If you must, re-roll your character with stealth detection traits for ground, I've seen people that can detect my tac who is fully specced into stealth at 15 meters; a range at which the shotgun does barely anything.

How do you survive the first shot?
By shooting first.
