# 1 Aux to SIF 3 and skills
08-01-2011, 08:10 PM
Has anyone fully invested in all skills (according to STOWiki: Starship Engineering, Aux maintenance and Aux performance) for Aux to SIF 3?

I have 7/9 in Engineering and 9/9 in performance. At 125 Aux, I'm getting around 7500 (maybe more? I don't remember for sure). Is it worth investing points into maintenance?

I only ask because a fully spec'd EngTeam 2 (with 3 Mk XI SIF Generators) is around 10,000. Factoring in resists, Aux to SIF 3 is almost as high (if not higher) than EngTeam 2 without putting Sci and TacTeams on CD; very valuable for my healing playstyle. I'm hoping to get Aux to SIF 3 as high as possible, but I don't know if maintenance is worth it.

Mine is skilled at:
  • Starship Engineering Training: 9/9
  • Starship Auxiliary Systems Maintenance: 7/9
  • Starship Auxiliary Systems Performance: 9/9

At my basic max Aux setting of 114/100 I heal for 7,621 with 56% damage resistance.

When I use EPS Transfer to bump Aux to 125/100 I heal for 8,083 with 59% damage resistance.

I hope this helps a little. ^^

Sounds about right (don't have the number 'right' in front of me... At work...), I think my full-spec one is about 8125 and +60 resist at 125 Aux.

Just from the added resist alone (+50 resist is 33% damage resistance, thus, your version or a full-spec is even higher), ASIF3 is way more valuable than ET2 (and comparable to a high-spec/console-supported ET3). That being said, however, it's never a bad idea, as a fellow Healer, to have a second, high-powered ET available for when a surprise spike hits one of your Escorts (and ET2 + ASIF3 is worth roughly 25k of 'effective' healing).

Indeed.

I'm rotating EngTeam 2 and 3 as well, but I try to keep those in reserve (using A2SIF -and HE as my main heals) just in case I need to use Tac or SciTeam.

This thread is about A2S but since it sorta went in on the topic of healing setups.

The extend 3 setup is better.

et2,et3,
ats2, es3

Sif consoles are overkill, get resists instead.

I'd been running Extend 3 up until now, but I realized that A2SIF will fit me better:
- I can cycle ET 2 and 3 with A2SIF 3 and Extend 2.
- That Extend 2 gives me ~34% SDR whereas Extend 3 gave me 42%. That extra 8% is less than the difference between A2SIF 2 and A2SIF 3.
- I want to jack up A2SIF 3 as high as humanly possible so that I don't always have to use an ET (don't want to throw TT and ST on CD).
- More often than not, unless they're in bad shape, the Extended target gets ignored for a bit after being getting the Extend; having my Commander level skill fully pimped out and still available for others is better for me.

I'm no Era, but I'm trying :p

You could trim down engineering to 7/9, in fact all your tier one abilities as the extra 2 points don't really improve the skill.

Maybe you're right, for a single pug healer, if that is what you are doing? (guessing so since you've choose to run ALL the teams).

Anyways, maybe a2s is better then, but team healing has changed. It's gone from mega burst healing with ET3s and a2s3 to resisting with ES3 and having the one cruiser (maybe two even) catch the spikes, and an et3+a2s2 is more than enough if you get the resists on quickly as well.

My healboat don't have ST or TT, so I hit ET as often as I can, usually combined with A2S, and have HE as backup heal.

If you choose to use ET as a backup, you may do with only one copy? freeing up a slot for a secondary ES. (or are there GCD concerns? I don't remember...)

I actually ran out of things to put onto my Eng slots, so I ended up with an RSP 1 purely because there was nothing else to take :p Dropping an EngTeam would give me Boarding Party then.

Also, I don't think there's a need to go with 2 ES. The CD is only like 15 seconds?
