Would you consider posting a guide explaining your leveling methods?

I'm sure many people (myself included) would appreciate it. I have tried to start Klink characters, but the idea of either doing exploration missions over and over or entering often empty PvP zones was enough to drive me off.

The key is teaming up. No mission is the same no matter what you do, when you run in a team. Of cause I also ran on elite, giving that much more XP.

I never played STFs. Since I feel somewhat uneasy to go with a random group, because I'm pretty unexperienced, I joined a fleet yesterday. We'll see, how that turns out. Nevertheless, I don't think that I'll be playing STFs all day long. There must be something other to do as VA too...

I also started a new char, but I'm only playing him together with another friend, so we can do the same missions together and we both always have the same level. (Yes, I know, I can adjust my level, but it's more fun, if I don't have to repeat the missions, just because we want to play together).
Seriously, to paraphrase what everybody has posted.....try finding something to do which is only MILDLY boring as opposed to very boring (which you'll inevitably feel once you've repeated fleet actions, STF's, and featured episodes for the umpteenth time.)

DABO! *Everybody loves Dabo!*

The third post in this thread probably sums up a lot though you can always pad it out for a more personal and longer living experience.

STF's
I've done STF's so much I could make a cube but do them because it's one of the most challenging sets of missions despite being nerfed so much to death it's silly and combine that with the speed of ground combat now. Now I lead other groups mostly fleet or friends lately but have on occassion help pugs (helped enough pugs in my time some good some bad). It can be rewarding to help others and pass on your skills, knowledge and experience as well as getting them through the STF itself.

Accolades
It was mentioned and yes apart from the energy dmg and resist types and npc kills the rest are more for show which people won't see unless they see your title. Still some accolades give you trophies which again is more fluff which is on your ship and unlikely people will see (or yourself) though this can easily change perhaps your fleet will do more ship interor stuff or STO heads in that direction. This will take you a while unless you chcek out the Accolades channel for help to help you make the task that bit easier.

Emblem grinding
Yup max out your ships, boffs and yourself unless the research stuff is more for you.

Foundry
Once it's fully up and running (keeps being up and down but should eb up properly now) you can make your own missions.

Having done every...little...thing in this game I'm always on the hunt for more challenges or stuff to do. Done STFs, accolades, emblem grind the lot. I even lead my fleet through a few successful Crystaline Entity runs which is probably the hardest mission in all of STO and resorted to doing FA's just for 1st place loot and mindless Dabo. The only thing I can do now is to do every foundry mission (which is probably like opening a can of worms with great missions all the way down to terrible ones) or make my own which I keep meaning to do since I have this epic storyline in place just need the time to make it.

Really the message I'm giving is be versatile with the content open to you and redo stuff, do pvp, find your own challenges or set yourself goals.

Anazonda, excellent post!

Thrakkar, you would be well-served following Anazonda's post. And as others have said, trying the different classes, KDF-side, PvP, etc. All those can be fun, too! I played only one character, my main Tac, for about 7 months before I bothered to try another, and that's when I chose KDF (Eng). It was so different. Then I made a Sci Fed, and went on from there until I now have 13 characters including at least one of each class at max level, in both factions.

On my main I'm also an accolade hunter. If you're interested in achieving those, I highly recommend you sign up for the in-game Accolade Chat Channel and check out these pages:

It is not that it is particularly "Hard" to level a KDF, especially when you have leveled a toon before your experience in doing it tends to make it quicker... However, grinding the same nebulas for days on end is not what I would call "interesting". Maybe some folks find that to be really exciting but I am not one of them. I spent more time grinding in Exploration zones with my Gorn than I did with my Caitian and she's an Ambassador!

The only thing that made it more worthwhile was those oh-so-rare moments when you got KDF exclusive missions because those were AWESOME. All about quality over quantity in the KDF I guess. "I'm in your Utopia Planetia blowin' up your ships!"

The Feds by contrast have huge overarching storylines and for straight up grinding they have wonderfully experiential Patrol Missions which blow the Sorties out of the water in effectiveness. Granted at the very end both Klink and Fed end up grinding Nebulas with the difference being that by that point the Klink is a Zen Master Nebula explorer who can tell you every single type of planet, mission, and alien you will encounter and in what combination. The Fed probably has not figured out what Nebulas are yet and wonders why they do not seem to lead anywhere else.

Just a personal gripe: Why is it that 90% of the Planets in the Klink Exploration places have horrible visibility? Some have like a laser lightshow, some have fog, some are super dark, and then there is Fart World. That is what I deemed it. Where gas erupts constantly from the ground obscuring vision with its greenish brown ambiance. Seriously... Having next to no visibility more than 3 meters infront of you is very frustrating and annoying.

Well... With a proper combo of explores, FE's and the Fek'iri missions, I didn feel it was a grind.

In fact I didn feel like I was repeating alot of missions. Well... the constant "repel enemies from KDF", were a bit repedeative, but they do also provide a sweet amount of XP.

Also, re-playing missions is THE way to get good gear for free.

Thanks for all the input!

Yesterday I did my first STF and I really had a blast, although we weren't able to kill the final boss. But since my gear leaves quite some room for improvement, I'll be upgrading this now.

I already have some decent research skill (1380), since I crafted items all along the way to VA. Should be easy to get the last 220 points...

I'll try diplomacy, but if that starts to become a grind, I'll get bored soon.

Maybe I'll give PvP a try too, but every time I tried it, my team messes up big time. I.e. KDF sticks together. Everyone of my team flies away in a different direction. So the KDFs rip us apart one by one. Then the others start to leave. Therefor I'm a bit discouraged here...

You won't be the only one I gave up on pvp a llooonnggg time ago. Sadly people didn't grasp the caputre and hold part of capture and hold and generally the escorts kept dying or running away, cruisers tried to out dps the escorts and their own asses and science often debuffed the one target no one else was attacking. Once I got my pvp accoaldes out the way I was gone since at the time I wasn't aware of easier ways to do my pvp at the time plus some pvp matches were good, just most were horrendous. It got to the point where I'd be the only one trying to cap n hold so as soon as my team started losing I bugged out and waited until we lost which often happened very quickly and less painful than dragging the process out, just fire a single shot and camp at spawn point so I still got reward for it. I recommend you get your fleet to pvp together or pvp within your fleet.

Dipl xp can be a grind towrds the end but the transwarp ability you get and the cross faction boff is something to aim for. Try the accolades channel for efficient ways to maximise your dip xp and you'll have it done in no time.

As for STF's good for you for trying and yes Rebecca can be a handful if the right strategies aren't used it's not so much your equipment even mkX green is suifficient. Did 2 infected's last night, one was fine the other we got her down to ~1% and she killed 3 of us in one go (and I wasn't payign attention :p). Got her on the 2nd run though just fine. Cure will be that bit harder without someone who knows what their doing on the ground but KA is more straight forward and Terradome...well you can do it but there's no real reason to do it since the loot is crap and there is no sequel STF to it yet.
