the way I see it PVP is a self sustaining activity, you can fight on the same map a hundred differnt times and get a differnt experiance each time.

PVE doesn't have that so obviously PVE (which has more players anyway) is gonna get priority.

OP what do YOU wantin a PvP game?

Make some bullet points. I am curious. (no sarcasm here!)
Capture the flag? Elimination? Two fort four? Are you talking ground space or both?
Also besides a big open space with a bunch of rocks what else could Cryptic do in a PvP map to make it "Interesting"

One of my ideas would be nebulas that hide your ship until you are almost on top of the opponents ship!

As a low level casual I my self would love to see tier locked PVP so that players of any rank can have fun and not just the Elite folks.

I would also like tha ability to enter PvP maps as an observer! I'm terrible at PvP but I love to watch it like a sporting event.
Players could even place side bets!
Also the death penalty for PvP MUST be HARSH so HARSH that you are scared when doing it.

I hear so much about how Cryptic isnt making new maps and such, but I hardly ever see any real ideas about it.

you where doing so well, I was nodding my head in agreement with you.. then you go and make a silly statement like that. a harsh death penalty for PVP would have a disasterous effect on PVP.

insisute a harsh pena;ty and suddenly people stop PVPing. this MIGHT be alright if you have an open world PVP type approuch where you want people to think before they attack (EVE) but PVP where it's basicly just a game everyone partakes a sevre death penalty would drive off everyone who was casual at all and you'd be left with maybe a dozen or two people who where very good, but they'd quickly also grow very bored

I re-subbed a few days ago and was very disappointed when i realized that the new Open World PvP sorties didn't make it into the final release of season 4. Also, like so many others, I don't understand why we haven't seen any new maps since season 2. If Cryptic doesn't have the manpower to make these themselves, they should let the community take over and let them create PvP maps in the foundry.

More game types are a welcome, and at this point very necessary, addition. However, the lifeblood of PvP in any game is maps. Those take, how long, 5 minutes, to come up with? Especially since with Space PvP all you need is a few cool focal points and then a big open area. It should take even less time than normal, considering there is already a very large bank of usable maps in the PvE realm that can be converted to PvP.

This can't simply be an oversight by the Devs. We've been vocal enough about this, and the Devs seem to be avoiding the topic. Even in the monthly Ask Cryptics, we get a token PvP question "answered" without giving us any real information. At this point, it's more like the Devs are trolling us more than anything.

Why? We're paying customers, we deserve some Dev attention too. In addition to our monthly subs, we dump money in the C-Store just as much as anyone else. Why should we go on supporting the RP and PvEers every month when our money goes towards things like Starfleet Academy and uniforms? Isn't it only fair that we get some content as well? As I've stated before, PvP maps do not take that long at all. And unlike Starfleet Academy and FEs, where you take a 10 minute glance around the place or run through them a few times, PvP maps and content have infinite re-playability with a relatively small amount of development time required compared to other things.

So, seriously Devs: Let us know what's up. You can tout the open PvP that's coming "soon", but Ker'rat is open PvP too and it's been broken for well over a year now. Even if open PvP came out tomorrow, it wouldn't be enough to offset all of this time. Just something as small as saying, "You know what, you're right. We HAVE been ignoring PvP," would LOADS for not only community relations, but also to tame some of our frustration.

Now, as a note to those of you reading this: Please, no "I don't PvP so I don't care or want PvP additions! There's like 5 of you!" We've gone over those topics over and over again.

Also, I'd like to invite all of you to read and post in our anniversary thread, where we noted that it's been a solid year since we were told we'd be getting basic additions that were already in testing "soon."
To be fair to the Dev's there has been one map added, "Shanty Town" (I think that's what it's called) and there's another map on the horizon based on one of the upcoming feature episodes. As to why no other additions have been made, I would think a lot of the team is focused on the DOff system right now

Dear OP

To get your answer you must reread Article 14 Section 31 of the Starfleet Charter. We are permitted to use extraordinary measures in times of dire emergency.

The Federation is in a dire emergency. he have a content drought for solo players that is effecting the foundation of the federation itself. So we have taken it onto ourselves to make sure that result will lead to more content. This means that we have had to... relocate resources... to get the job done, and in doing so. the pvp team has been... reassigned.

We are sorry for the inconvenience, and as soon as this emergency is over. normal work will resume on the pvp side of the federation.

Yours truly

Lol at the post above me. Federation and Content Drought don't quite mixed when compared to what seems like a half finsished Faction with only 8 Storyline missions and should get a ship every month just like the other faction.

If this were WoW, you'd get different answers depending on what server you played on. On some servers, you can fight on the same map a hundred different times and your side will always lose the game.

Dear DecadeComplete

You do bring up a good point. at this time I can not answer those questions you have about the other faction and their lack of story line.

I can say this.
They are not a major danger to the federation. so we are not causing the lack of missions for that other factions as a way to make that faction fall apart and in a sense start a civil war that will tear them apart to keeping the federation safe. We have no kind of agenda against the other faction, and we in no way are involved with their own down fall due to the lack of content, and insane grind in that faction.

We thank you for your inquiry, make sure you keep on severing the federation as a good citizen, and we will keep you safe.

Yours truly

I don't think you have provided any evidence that this is the case. Without making this core statement plausible, most of your claims ring hollow.

I have very serious doubts it takes "5 minutes" to make a player vs player map, especially when the maps are underwhelming as it is. The first thing people would say to half-arsed maps is "Omg, Cryptic is obviously trying to kill us PvPers off. These new maps must have taken, what, 5 minutes to make?"

If it were so easy to crank out half-decent maps I'm sure Cryptic would have been plugging them out relentlessly.

But if it takes that long, tell us. Give us some info. Even then, if it takes 10 months, we should have gotten at least 1 by now, yes?

There are already many existing PvE maps that would work great for PvP. How long would it honestly take to put a few spawn points on?
actually, you see, they take while to create maps. it takes time to create, polish. if it breaks, fix it, repolish etc etc etc. and i'm Foundry Creator, and i make maps for my missions, they do take time. i usually get them done in a 10 mins. but when i got compliants about broken map, i have to go back into and check. sure enough it's broken due to misnap in the setup. so since then i've been carefully making sure it's properly set up and making sure it doesn't foul up player's experience. map to make takes about an hour, it sometimes grows to 6 to 10 hours to fully finish it. i currently finish maps an hour each.
