To kill the device is easy if you are patient and play to the limitations of the BoP. The BoP will die if it gets shot by pretty much anything, so staying near the device is lethal as the klingons will kill you if the Device doesnt. Yes, despite what has been said previsously, you actually have to hit it with a Harp' Peng torpedo just after it fires, otherwise you'll do no damage, even if you fire down it's throat. My current toon has done it a few times to re-acquire the Harp'Peng Torpedo as she advances in rank, and the last time I did it as a Captain, it took me forever, because I couldn't get my timing or my angles right on. good luck!

Don't forget BOP has a cloak. This will at least allow you to avoid getting attacked by other ships. Just have to remember to uncloak in order to fire the torpedo.
