This is a really stupid question but why do people keep their Aux Power high?
What does that achieve, what is a good Aux power level for a tac/escort or a tac/cruiser

Some abilities use the Aux power so by having it all the way up you are boosting those abilities. From my understanding, science abilities are primarily the ones that use Aux power.

Most Science abilities depend upon Aux power; higher aux levels can increase the effectiveness of Science.

That said, if you don't rely too heavily on your Science officer(s) you very likely won't notice, especially in PvE.

I ran a Science captain in a Science Vessel all the way up to VA and did quite nicely with the weapon preset in PvE.

Auxiliary power boosts a lot of the science skills i.e. hazard emitters, transfer shield strength, polarise hull and many others but those are probably the ones of most importance to an escort.

It also (supposedly) helps you see cloaked ships better and improves your own cloaking device if you have one.

Does Emergency Power to Shields, Transfer Shield Strength or Tactical Team use Aux power?

Only Transfer Shield Strength, from your question.


Tactical team = Tactical Officer
Emergency power to Shields = Engineer Officer


Before any mistakes are gonna be made, Aux does no longer improve turn rate or what so ever. Old STOKED episodes still mention it. And some people dont know it has been changed. And even STO's loading screens told us this (At least until Season 4) but it doesnt work like that anymore
