I do, but I don't want them to do it now. I want them to fix the broken stuff first, then add the needed systems (exploration, interaction, reputation, research and better crafting), and then finish the work on the existing factions (Klingons need more!).

Once they FINISH THE GAME to a point that would be worthy of launch, THEN they can start adding the Romulan faction.

Then why dont we get a full list of what we expect out of Romulan space?

Perfect World, the people who bought Cryptic, are apparently interested in creating a third faction. So it'll happen eventually with best case scenarios being late 2012 or 2013. But as Mojo the poster above me said, they really need to finish the other half of this game and squashing bugs before they move to a totally new faction.

Like I just said, lets go ahead and get ideas together so they know what we expect.

Mine, from an old blog post:

1. The home base (akin to Qo'nos or Earth Space Dock). For me this absolutely HAS to be something like Romulus. Losing that planet, as much as it helped the storyline and the like, was a loss to the Star Trek universe, and honestly, playing a game as a Romulan and not being able to visit some grand Romulan City (akin to the planet from "Cutting the Cord", though with more) would be something that would hurt.

2. The races. I'm a perfectionist that will only have a Klingon crew on a Klingon ship (and once we get more PVE content, will have a Gorn ship with Gorn crew and so on), and as such with the Romulans will most likely be the same route. That said, three starting races does seem a tad small. The Romulans, Remans and Hirogen are great, but I can't help feeling that they could do with a little more just for variety's sake.

3. The ships. For me, this is the most important part of the entire thing. Yes, obviously we'll get the D'deridex (T5 cruiser hopefully), and the Mogai (T5 escort), but what of the others? Yes, we'll get the Hunter Escort (Hirogen ship), and the Bird of Prey, but there are still going to be massive holes in the tiers. To that end, I'd like to see the ships used in TNG episodes like "The Defector", "The Next Phase", and the shuttle seen in the DS9 episode "In The Pale Moonglight". If we get those added to what's in the game already, I think we'll be fine.

4. The Eras. People are going to want their TOS ship patterns and their TNG/DS9 uniforms and weapons (though thankfully as of the latest series, we have the disruptor), and my bet is that Cryptic will of course use the C-Store for such things.

5. The missions. By no means the least important part of the whole thing, people are going to want missions involving subterfuge and sneaking around rather than diplomacy or blunt force. Thankfully Cryptic being Star Trek fans themselves means that the odds are good for such a thing.

Don't remind me that the homeworld is destroyed... the thought of actually having Romulus in this game...

Right now though, I think it would be cool if the Romulans started out with a couple of planets that had smaller somewhat specialised cities since Romulus was destroyed. I think it would add somewhat to the uniqueness of playing Romulan.

As I've said before, I think keeping the Hirogen in Romulan space and associated with the Empire is un-Romulan. They should be disposed of as soon as the Empire is done with them (now, seeing as Sela's back). I'd be happy with the Romulans and Remans myself.

Generally, let's see the Romulans rounded out as a complete faction when they get presented. I don't mean the same as the Federation, we don't need to have a bunch of Cardassian content off the hop or something, just enough missions to make levelling fun and some uniqueness, some sneaking around like you said.

Finally, I don't always like the way the Romulans are being made to appear in game... like they're almost powerless or something. I suppose when we get the Romulan faction we'll be able to change that. But Romulus was destroyed, the Empire lives.

I'm also dreading when I get to play as a Romulan but the cool uniforms are in the C-Store......

I was going to say that it would be great if one of the missions involved time travel that allowed us to explore Romulus of the TNG/DS9 era, but then it becomes a question of 'why aren't I saving my homeworld from future destruction?'

Perhaps they can think of a clever way for us to visit Romulus?

Despite some, erm creative propaganda, the Romulan people are not homogeneous. I suspect that various colonies would be somewhat different from one another.

I can't stress how much I agree. The idea of the Romulan Star Empire allowing the Hirogen to freely roam their space, potentially hunting and eating loyal Romulan citizens is outrageous. Romulans are borderline xenophobic in general, I just can't see them meshing with Hirogen. At all.

I think it'd be kind of cool if, due to Spock's movement, you could play as a Romulan/Vulcan hybrid.

It'd be kind of cool if the Devs come up with a system where if we do enough "sneaking around" we can take a position with the Tal'Shiar if we choose to.
