About the combat system let me say that actually it's a real nuisance because the science officers have too power and the game balance is jeopardized! When a pvp team with three sci always wins, there is something wrong and as a matter of fact all is reduced to neutralize the enemy with a Subnucleonic Beam, a sci career specific ability, along with a high level Scramble Sensors, a sci BO ability, to confuse the targets. I know, I know Science Team removes these debuffs, but at this point who has more SB and SS non fought back by more ST prevails. Sirs, in one word the pvp gameplay is became too frustrating! For example I use in a keybind EPtoS together with TT when firing, but the second ability shares cooldown with ST, so when I'm attacking a target TT grants me a more strong shield facing but if I'm hit with SB or SS nearly always can't precisely activate ST. But I'm many times a pug and probably a premade team well organized doesn't notice the problem...

No escort captain in the game is going to keep fighting after a high yield 3 to bare hull. He is going to break off to heal. That's your job as a cruiser to be the dps people can tank but can't ignore. Go for targets of opportunity.
Your escort may be putting out less DPS because its a more efficient killer. Or you havnt figured out how to aim it correctly. look at the big picture and not just the numbers
