I kinda give you Covariants. Though I think with the recent changes to shields, Regeneratives and Covariants became more competitive again.
At least with Impulse Engines, you had a few choices. And i suspect that some might have underrated [AUX] as well. But I think the engine types need a similar change as the shields received. (An idea for that is in the Comprehensive Suggestion thread from Sivar).
And at least Deflectors had plenty of options for players. Now I can either take the Aegis Graviton Array or the Assimilated Graviton Array. Meh.
And deflectors are where the few people that focus on Sci will strongly consider a specialized deflector today, instead of the Assimilated or Aegis.. Before the sets it just didnt matter much what deflector you ran on say a Defiant, for the majority of the time I played my Defiant, I was actually running some rare MK VII or VIII deflector at VA.
The problem with engines was that it was kinda hard *not* to break the 50 power limit for Combat or Regular engines, I ran either a Hyperimpulse MK X [Turn] x2 on my cruisers/Sci, or a MK X [Spd] x2 on my Escorts (which individually was better than a MK XI [Turn] [Spd] [Aux] in their respective strenghts)
I think other shields are still very viable, I use a Resilient Cap3 on my Fleet Escort with the three borg pieces that aren't shields, and it's very tough for an escort. I agree impulse engines at high tier need a rethink since you'll reach a point where combat engines become useless.
I think they should simply make Mk XII blue & purples better than the sets. The set pieces should be roughly Mk XI very rare, perhaps with reduced grouping bonuses.
well, i don't do STF's, i get disconnected to often. I have basically built all 3 of my tier 5 ships around the aegis system. I like the idea of making MK XII blues & purples better than the sets. I'm getting bored.

You know, my Fleet would be happy to take you through the STF's, even if your computer is doinitwrong and DC'ing, we'll be patient and happy to help you get through. (Believe me, just having the Borg Set to experiment with, is worth the effort.)

well, i may take you up on that, but I'm afraid that i may have to take a break from STO. I got some issues going on, & may be AFK for a month , or possibly longer. I hope to see you all again soon though.

Well, I'm certainly sorry to hear that, but I know that RL concerns have to come first, but, we'll be here when you get back, and you know we'll miss you!

Yeah, the STO PVP community has been a huge help for me while dealing with my health problems. You guys made Chemo bearable. I often log on & do nothing but chat, Thank you all so much, for being your snarky selves. I feel at home on OPVP. I hope STO lives long & prospers. Hopefully someday you will be PVPing against my Bot Fly Larva. ( I can't call my daughters maggots)
& Daddys teaching them all about resists, so just cuz you won't be able to kill them don't mean they're cheating.
Edit, wow that sounds way melodramatic, I'll be around for a few more days anyway, & i'm sure i'll see you again soon.
