I know this build first hand. I was on the other end of it lol. At first I had to pause because I didn't expect so many Target subsystems.

The only problem is spike dmg, maybe a tric with this build?

Superspread lmao

My new AE is running Beam target engines 3, weapons 3, and shields 2.

6 beams, 1 quantum torp with high yield 2.

Considering maybe sticking a chroniton mine launcher in the rear.

Tactical based CC kinda, although it's more about controlling an individual.

The intent is as an escort neutraliser. Seems pretty effective at least 1v1, in the rare opportunities I have found myself against 1 other escort. No chance against a group of them though. I got regularly bashed by a trio of your LF friends, not sure if that was because I was getting on their nerves or just because

I know crimson told me, and he is the only feedback I have had yet, that I got his weapons power down to 5, which is basically my intent. Since then I also got the breen set for an added -9 drain.

Not sure how effective it is, I need some testing buddies, unfortunately my fleet are practically non-existent! One thing is that it almost looks like I can't always see the effect. There were several occasions when target engines seemed to bring them to full stop but I still couldn't see the debuff listed. Again, testing buddies required!

I think it is a build with potential, especially with a decent sci energy zapper and someone to keep me alive. There is no burst damage to speak of, but when the other escort is shooting at you with 5 power, and then can't move to bring you in arc when you take out their engines, it really levels the playing field. I just need them quantums high yields to make ships go pop.

At the very least it is different, and so therefore fun.

Ah, speak of the devil

Yea people kept thinking I was a sci.

I must say, I have never ever seen another escort run that build, perhaps for good reason It just struck me that the ONLY class that can run multiple high level target systems are escorts. So I gave it a spin! Kinda fun.

So far I'm relying on HY2 to spike. I didn't think i'd be able to kill another ship solo but the continued attrition has indeed led to kills. I believe you died at my hands? Can't recall if I had assistance.

I think really though it is the kinda ship that needs a spike buddy. Together though....evil...evil...

Whether intentional or not, Cryptic's efforts (FaW, Har'Pengs, broken $target, broken queues and pay to win ships, being the most recent) have culled the PvP player base quite effectively and I for one have been finding it hard to collect the enthusiasm required to login and play STO anywhere near as much as I did in the past. I started playing Battlestar Galactica Online as something simple to fill my lunch hour in the office about a month ago and have found myself playing it in the evenings more than STO recently too. I've even been looking forward to that other sci-fi mmo that is due to launch at the end of the year.

However, I logged into STO last night (was pretty much a 50/50 between doing that and spending another night on BGO) and I have to say I'm glad I did. I've been messing around with a science heavy crowd control build on my Hegh'Ta, taking advantage of not needing much weapons power by spamming Har'Pengs (as a thank you to all the Federation players who insisted on spamming the 'Peng when it was clearly very broken and unbalanced) and its actually been quite fun.

I wasn't overly concerned with which side won any of the games, just trying to see how well I could disrupt the other team's operations with a combo of gravity well, tractor beam, shockwave and warp plasma, while throwing out whatever heals I could spare to my team and seemed to be doing quite well. An engineer running a BoP with full aux and high shields is surprisingly resilient (at least in a non focused PUG setting).

Managed to get in some very enjoyable matches and was considering offering myself up as cannon fodder (minus the 'Pengs of course) in one of the OPvP "big games" that I saw being organised but each time I saw the call go out, I was mid way through a match.

Anyway, the point of this post, is to say that despite the bad points, PvP in STO can be very enjoyable, in my opinion at least (even in its current state), so I'm not quitting!

I know I'm only a minor league player, compared to some of the "grand masters" of the game, so probably wouldn't be missed anyway but one more (human) target to shoot at is always a good thing.

The 'Pengs are coming off my BoP after today and going into sotrage, fun though they are, I do miss the "killer punch" of my trusty DHCs and I look forward to warming them up on the battlefield again soon.

Qa'pla!

Lol, I think there is some tongue-in-cheek in the title. It is supposed to be a bit satirical about the "I quit" threads that show up I believe.

I have come across builds like yours and 1 v 1 they are tough to beat. Sir may I suggest Target Engines 3 instead of weapons 3. Take a shield and engines auto crit. But in a loose team we call out builds like yours for eradication. Nothing personal

Uh? I have both engines and weapons 3 mate, I said above with shields 2 to round out the GCD.

Edit: Or did you mean 2x target engines 3?

Lol, I don't take it personally, I would do the same, some ships just need taking out asap, LF ships often make my priority target lists Nothing personal. Hehe.

Edit: Oh, and "auto-crit" ??

Give this guy a prize!

Its in the PvP forum because I primarily play PvP in STO and feel more "at home" in this part of the forum, plus I was talking about PvP gameplay and how I actually enjoyed it.

I see too many threads on these forums lately (both PvP and the forum as a whole) saying how bad STO is and thought it was time for something a little more positive, all this negativity must be dis-heartening for the Cryptic staff that have to read it and can't give a good impression to an outsider looking at the forums and thinking about joining us.

I'm no "Cryptic Fanboy", indeed I've been making my displeasure heard on the forums more recently but I just wanted to point out that despite some (seemingly) bad decisions from Cryptic concerning the game and an attitude to PvP that can be conceived as wanting to get rid of that part of the game, what we have here is actually a fun game and I think more of us should play it rather than talk about how bad it is.

Lets just hope Cryptic go on to improve it for us.

Hurray for more PvP!

It's not perfect, not by a long shot, but that doesn't mean that it can't be fun. There are folks out there who set out to make it as little fun as possible for the other side (and I don't just mean premades who play to win:p) but not everyone is like that. I have a blast most of the time because the people are fun.
