Honestly, I don't recall when the broadcast quality digital Betacam SP format was introduced into te industry - given TBG started in 1987 - the first few seasons COULD be on analog betacam SP; and the later seasons were recorded on digital batacam SP.

Also remember that about season 3(ish) they changed the lighting set up and tweaked a few other things so that could've also had an effect.
