# 1 Maxing Out Galaxy X Turnrate
09-15-2011, 12:18 PM
Okay, with 4 RCS consoles and full skillpointsin assault cruiser and engine performance, I can get up to 15.7 turnrate.

I hear some say they can get that without RCS consoles and I have no clue how.

To heck with what's optimal.I'm a turnrate junkie. Say your goal is as much turnrate as possible.

What's every trick possible to max out turnrate?

Only other thing I could think of is to have a Captain abd bridge officers with Warp Core Theorist but that wouldn't boost turnrate by as much as some people are claiming they can do without RCS consoles on the X.

Does it really matter? If you devote all your eng. consoles and abilities to turn rate you are sacrificing a lot of other good stuff.

That would be a great spin on Boarding Party.

Launch a bunch of shuttles that tractor onto your ship and turn it manually. :-)

I don't care. Like I say, turnrate junkie. I don't PvP and I only play on normal difficulty. There's apparently something I'm missing.

Also worth considering... If you turn a Galaxy X effectively into an escort, look at what you'd be sacrificing. Could you make an escort that much more durable with the same investment?

Take what you'd sacrifice to get a Galaxy X up to a turnrate of 17. Then compare that to a Defiant (base turnrate of 17) where you have zero turnrate improvements from the base in exchange for survivability. I think given that comparison, the Galaxy X comes out ahead.

THere are several tricks Leviathan.

1. BO Power: Auxillary Power to Inertial Dampners
2. specific Engine types
3. power to those engines
4. BO Power: Emergency power to engines

These are the more common ways. Understand to get the max out of your skills, you need to max all cruiser skills all the way through the tree to AC skill. Each level is interdependant on the one below it for its final number that modifies the next one in line.

Also the skills you select that modify your Engine power at the Commander and Captain levels. NOTE: if you run an engine power above 50 and the max starts getting above 75 you will loose some on these skills. I run a engine power of 25, and I run Borg engines (which are combat style engines) and I have a normal power (with my normal buffs from skills/alcolades) of 68. this helps my Gx/G(r) in their turn rate.

This is not the end all/be all of how to get a better turn rate, but will get you down the correct path.
If I can be of anymore help let me know.

i assum ussing cannons right?? well your only gonna get one cannon rapid fire every 15 seconds and its
crf1 ....lame... so what if you can spin realy fasta defaint with buffs will still out spin you and crf3 your behind which now cant take much since all your consolse are rcs

I've done all that. I get a passive turnrate of 15.7 on my Galaxy X. I've had some people claim they get 15 without any RCS consoles, which means there has to be a way to get another 4 points of turnrate if what they say is accurate.

The ship can use dual heavy cannons and has that nifty phaser lance; I wanna fly her like a fighter.

I can't find any indication of a better turnrate than the Aegis engines offer. Maybe I'm missing something there but that alone, even with Warp Core Theorists out the wazoo won't account for 4 points of passive turnrate.

I tried running the efficient setup with engine power at 74, specced into efficient engines (you stop gaining boosts at 75) and wasn't able to get the same turnrate I could get out of just going for engine performance and maxing out engines.

yeah you could, but I get an unbuffed 11-12+ on the turn rate. I do not believe you can get a 15 turn rate without some BO power or external power/console assisting on a Gx.

I can use the Inertial Power to Dampners and pop it above 15, but not any other way that I am aware of.
