If you can get the Star Trek Online.exe file from another working copy of STO this will fix your issue.

I've posted my copy to http://www.ausmonauts.com/fix/ which is how I helped my fleet mates.

When you open the url right click on the Star Trek Online.exe link and choose save as, save it somewhere on your computer and run your antivirus or anti spyware over it if you want to.

rename the file in your current Cryptic Studio's folder (for Windows 7 this is C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios) to old-Star Trek Online.exe and then copy the file you just downloaded to the Cryptic Studios folder and run your launcher from your usual icon.

I hope this helps.

Thanks
Tried this but it didn't work for me. I did a few speedtests for connection and I am getting on average 4mb per sec. so my connection should work.

Well this error has just started for me too.

I run the steam version of the game so not sure if replacing the launcher will work.

My internet download speed is 6mb. I havent installed or changed anything on my ssystem since 3 nights ago when I last played and all was well. Just all of a sudden game will not run.

Not happy.

Any official response so far on this issue do we know??

Thanks

EDIT: Tried replacing with the launcher posted by the gent "Lostpinky" in this thread, didnt work sadly.
Not happy at all. Game cost a lot of cash and yet now cannot play even though I havent altered anything y end.

I had the same issue about 3 weeks ago and the solution presented by Lostpinky worked right away (Thanks by the way!). But now it just stopped working again with the same eror message!
Does anyone have another working launcher for download? Or any other solution for this?
I've opened a ticket but nothing so far...

Cryptic has responded to my ticket, and I was instructed to reinstall the game. I have done the fresh install as instructed by the ticket response, and now when I try to launch the game I get stuck in the "Trying to update the launcher. Please be patient." message. It stayed on this screen for more then 12 hours last night! I hope there is a solution for this. Any ideas? I have submited a new ticket anyway...

This is the last response I got from Cryptic support: "Please contact your Internet Service Provider about this issue. It may be a good idea to request that your IP traffic be routed through an alternate Domain Name Server (DNS). "
If that is the problem how come I was able to play without any problems for 1 and a half year??? Am I making any sense? I'd really apreciate some real help now...
