I know that Hazzard Emitters counters Borg Shield Neutralizer, but with the changes to the Torpedo Cooldown, the Borg Shield Neutralizer is spamming faster than it did with SN Blasts being fired out every 5 seconds and even HE isn't enough to counter it. And with the Borg 1-shots being fired out every 10 seconds, it just makes it a very unpleasent experience. Especially in Ker'rat where there is always an eager Klingon PvPer ready to take advantage.


So I request Cryptic make Sci Team as a second ability that counters Shield Neutralizer.

Why would the Shield Neutralizer be "spammed faster" with the torpedo cooldown change? Does it act as a regular torpedo weapon on the Borg? Most NPCs only use one type of torpedo. And the cooldown changes only affect you if you use multiple launchers, not if you just have one, and don't change the cooldowns of the individual launchers at all.

I always figured it as a special ability independent of its torps? Could it be a seperate change to the Borg?

I think the Shield Neutralizer is used too often in the first place, and the Borg should use additional, different powers instead. The neutralizing gimmick is a little ... lame, IMO. I'd prefer to see more of the Borg ability to regenerate their ships (meaning they'd last longer) instead.

I'm prety sure that the SN isnt conectet to Torpedos at all... and its not a Torpedo since it does make exactly NO damage by itsself.

Also: IMO it ALWAYS spammed to often. I'm not against a challanging game, but Cubes could always constantly spam it and thats why there was never a point at all in countering it (even by using Hazard emitters you always had a new DN withing seconds...), thats a bit too much, especially since its quiet unbalances (in my opinion, since, for example, a SCI ship depends MUCH MORE on its shields then a Cruiser and has a prety big disadvantage when fighting Borg.

I'll be honest, I don't know if the BSN is connected to the torpedoes or not, but it really does seem like since the patch it's firing off more frequently than it did before. Prior to the patch, it fired off randomly every 15 seconds at best. But now it fires off so much that it actually stacks and there is no way HE can clear it most of the time.

And let's not forget the Lower tiers who really don't have the capability of surviving long against the Borg even without the BSN being used on them.


So fighting Borg right now isn't about challenge but instead combating spam. And those that PvP know how annoying Sci Spam is.

I actually have been noticing this as well. As a science ship commander primarily, it's annoying. I don't really have room to carry more than once copy of HE, and even if I did, the shared cooldown between the two, and with Polarize Hull doesn't make it worthwhile to me. In my two escorts it is far more frustrating.

Another thing I am noticing is that after I have hit Tac Team to clear one round of the boarding parties, get hit with a second round while Tac Team is in effect and it won't clear the second instance.

One suggestion maybe is that for the duration of HE, Tac Team, other heals and debuffs is that it removes all instances of the damage being incurred to the ship, or shorten the duration of damage from the second instance. It would make sense that if my Hazard Emitters are active, for example, it would clear any and all damage occurring while active regardless of how many times the ship has been hit. Kinda like a real fire suppression system would be doing. It wouldn't just hose down fire from the first shot.

Same thing with Tac Team. Real security teams would be getting rid of any and every threat aboard the ship while active.

Can't say I've noticed a difference. Seems like they have ALWAYS spammed the shield neutralizer. In fact, I never use HE right away. I always wait until I get hit with the SN at least twice before I use it. That said, I wouldn't mind if Sci team cleared it.

Shield Neutralizer and Assimilate Ship have always been spammed. Especially now that Cubes and Spheres do it.

I use Hazard to clear one SN and often end up facing a second before the Hazard cooldown is over. Combine that with their super tachyon beam, ultra powerful tractor beams and a few copies of Assimilate Ship and I'm pretty much screwed.

I'd really like to see SN and AS have an immunity kick on expire, so I get at least a 30 second breather before being hit with another one.

I don't disagree with you that Borg should be tough, but I feel they should be tougher with powers like regeneration than spamming Shield Neutralizing and 1-shot Plasma torpedoes. This is how they were in Trek.
