There was a trend towards escorts with no torpedoes which seems to have reversed, but that's healthy IMO. Torpedoes should generally be good enough that most ships should mount at least one forward, and possibly one aft.

Yup, my shield drain build always relied primarily on torpedoes. But I had real sacrifices to make, I just couldn't get good damage output and my spike potential was still not as good. Now it's better than ever - with a power that's thematically is more an AoE / crowd control power than a Spike power.
I agree with these.

I don't think it's bad that SVs can do damage, but I think TS goes a little overboard.

HYT from a SV wasn't bad, especially with a drain build. Basically I agree that TS needs a nerf, but I think making it function more like HYT (but with lower damage) would be sufficient.

(I kind of think that torpedoes other than Quantums need a little tweaking too, but it's the torpedoes themselves that need to be changed.)

Actually I tested a double launcher on tribble, and with some odd mechanic that photons seem to have (where they deal more damage to shields than they should. I haven't done Number Crunching to confirm yet, but I did test it on crudelis) I was actually killing him faster with a double barrel setup than my triple DHC and Quantum.

I'm wondering, what about relating the torpedo refire rate with the ships weapon power.
Say at 125 power you have the current refire rate, at 100 +1 second, at 75 +2 seconds at 50 +4 seconds at 25 +8 seconds. for example.
