I finally used my VA token on a ship and choose the Exploration Cruiser Retrofit for my Engineer.

I really like it, but I had the darnedest time deciding what to put on that 3 Eng seat.

Here is what I have for the other seats

Com Eng
EP to Wep I - DEM I - Aux to Bty II - Ej Wp Plasma III

Lt Com Eng
EP to Shld I - Rev Shld Pol I - Eng Team III

Lt Sci (anti-borg) \ (Norm)
Pol Hull I - Scam Sen I \ Jam Sen I - Scam Sen I

Lt Tac
Targ Shld I - FAW II

I tried another EP to Shld and also EP to Wep but the cooldowns were in the way. I'm running Eng Team I which I generally use to help repair my saucer and teammates, is that my best option or is there something else I should try. I really wish that last seat was sci or universal.

Thanks

My Ens. Eng slot is currently set to EPtE. Gives a nice boost when you need to move quickly.

I noticed you aren't running 2 copies of EPtS. I'm under the impression that 2 copies of EPtS is pretty much a must for cruisers. If I were you, I'd replace DEM 1 with EPtS2.

Your LT Sci power should probably be Hazard Emitters. It's a wonderful hull heal for you or a team mate, and it eliminates 'peng/plasma radiation and that pesky Borg Shield Neutralizer. If you fight the Borg Hazard Emitters is a MUST.

Your LT Tac power should probably be TS2... it's far too powerful of a tool to be without, both PvE and PvP.

The setup I'm running.

Eng BOff 1: EPtW, RSP, EPtS3, Warp Plasma or Extend Shields depending on if I need to heal others or not.
Eng BOff 2: Eng Team, Aux to ID, EPtS3
Eng BOff 3: EPtE

Sci BOff: Polarize or Sci Team (Pol for Borg, Sci to clear scramble for PvP), Hazard Emitters

Tac BOff: FAW or Tac Team (PvE or PvP), TS2

That's a pretty adaptable setup for most any situation. Many people think 2x EPtS3 is overkill, but it makes this thing one heck of a tank. Versus the Borg draw aggro with FAW and let them pound away while the rest of the team kills. As long as the shields are up I can take the plasma balls and spreads without much of an issue. In PvP it usually takes 2 escorts with sci or cruiser support to take me down... that means two of my teammates aren't being targeted. I've been in more than a few matches where the opposing team will try to kill me only to give up and move on to easier targets.

I'm assuming this is for PvE.

Cmr Eng: ET I, EPtW II, ET III, DEM III
Lt. Cmr Eng: EPtS I, RSP I, AuxDamp II / EWP II / AF II depending on need
Ens Eng: EPtS I

Lt. Sci: PH I, ST II or TSS II
Anti-Borg Lt. Sci: PH I, HE II or TSS II

Lt. Tac: TS:Engines I, BO II or BO I, APB II. Substitute FAW for BO if it suits your playstyle
Anti-Borg Lt. Tac: TT I, APB II

TS: Engines and EWP are a good combo to keep something from moving. You can run four EPtX skills in sequence without difficulty. AF (Aceton Field) is a good power to use on boss mobs as it reduces their energy weapon damage by 50% for 30 seconds and does a weak radiation DoT. Aux to Dampeners is a good defensive power that's especially useful against the B'ger torp spreads.

For PvE I would consider Polarize Hull is a must-have ability considering how many mobs use Tractor Beams. Sci Team is a good shield heal and counter for SNB. For the Borg swap Sci Team for Hazard Emitters or Transfer Shield Strength (on one hand HE counters the Borg shield neutralizer but they spam that so much you're going to lose shields unless the fight is over quick. On the other hand TSS is a great shield heal for yourself or others. I'd lean towards HE for the Borg, though). I never really had a use for the sensor jamming/scrambling abilities in PvE, but if you're set on that then run with it. I hear it gives PvPer's fits.

Your Tac BOff skills are largely dependent upon how you play. BO and APB are good general Tac skills to have. Versus the Borg you need Tac Team. You'll probably get more mileage out of Target Engines than Shields or Weapons because most NPC's don't have high engine power so you have a good chance of stopping them completely even with level 1 of the power. A stationary target is REALLY easy to hit.

Hope that helps.

I'd go with Aux to Inertial Dampeners for turn rate, (helps agains photonic shockwave also). If you dont like that skill, EPTE
