Whatever we say, we get thrown right back at us. And it hurts. A lot.

Us: Ugh, Scramble is annoying and broken. Please fix.
Devs: WAT? SCRAMBLE ANNOYING? HERE, TAKE A CONSOLE SO THAT CRUISERS CAN HAVE IT TOO!

Us: (way back when) The amount of mine/NPC spam is getting out of hand, let's reduce it please?
Devs: OK! HERE, TAKE VA KLINGON SHIPS THAT ALL HAVE SOME SORT OF ABILITY TO CLUTTER THE SCREEN! AND SCORPION FIGHTERS WHILE YOU'RE AT IT!

Us: TacTeam is useless. Can we give it some sort of role?*
Devs: GHETTO RSP FOR EVERBODDDYYYYY!

Us: Torp Spread is uselss.

Us: Torpedo procs need balancing, transphasics are still useless even with the new torp spread!

Us: Um, what's going on here? C-Store was supposed to be convenience items like skill boosts, not iWin ships? And how are we supposed to get these in game?
Devs: WE CALL THEM PLUS ONE SHIPS. BECAUSE YOU NEED TO USE PLUS ONE KNOWLEDGE TO BEAT THEM. L2P, N00BS. AND YOU CAN GET THEM IN GAME. SOON.

Us: Really? We've been shafted from the beginning. Why have we gotten 0 content?
Devs: FINE! NO CONTENT FOR ANYONE!

Us: PvP balance is going down the tubes, and we're bleeding out players.

They have been nerfed notably since then original release.

Originaly, it were cloaked tractor beam mines that tractored their target indefinitely. Now it's only 3 cloaked mines that tractor for 7 seconds or so and then destroy themselves. ther emight also have been changes to the recharge or shared coodowns, but, I am don't remember that specifically. These changes certainly made them less effective in PvP. And PvE, of course, which was reason enough for some PvE vs PvP hate, as usual with such nerfs. IIRC, they could even hit cloaked vessels. So you were flying cloaked in your BoP or Defiant or whatever, and suddenly a tractor beam gripped you, you were forcibly decloaked. IF you were lucky, no one was around (but of course, you're sitting around wasting your time until you located the mine and got to shoot it down)), but in other cases - you had little chance of making an attack run, since you wouldn't be able to focus fire on a target being constantly grabbed. Unless you had two Polarize Hull and maybe an Attack Pattern Omega. That basically made the "tanking Escort" impossible, but unfortunately also at the cost of its offense.

Even in the Vault these were problematic If you ever made the mistake of slotting 2 Dual Beams, you could end up trapped indefinitely with the old mines, simply because you couldn't shoot them down. (I doubt many people change the default equipment significantly, though.)

Some feds where nice enough to mine the spawnpoint yesterday in Ker'rat for a time.
Its was a pleasent surprise coming out of death to encounter them.
So, somebody still uses them even though they are much weaker now than they used to be and only half as effective in most situations.


All these slow and seemingly unbalanced changes to powers and equipment is iether the by-product or bug fixing without considering the bigger combat picture or a slow wind-up to a complete change of SPace combat under the F2P model. Such is my conspiracy.

Don't forget that they were cloaked, so if you were cloaked as well, you could be suddenly decloaked without even having a clue as to why.

Ah yes, here's a good one.

STO's PvP is "really strong." Hasn't it been dying since... Season 1.2? And we're even told to expect a tournament and some promotion "soon"!
