# 1 game crashes at startup
09-29-2011, 12:05 AM
i just reinstalled the game on my computer after upgrading from vista ultimate x64 to windows 7 professional 64

i updated everything just fine and when i try to play the game i get to the brightness rendering screen (the one right after the star trek logo) and it crashes without an error report (only the oops box)

i have tried compatability mode for vista sp1&2, xp for sp 2&3, i am running as admin, i have disabled visual themes and desktop comp, still no change

i have updated my drivers, dx 11, and c++, still no change

i have been trying to get this to work for 9 hours now....

when i was running vista i had absolutly no problems (although that was a year ago)

the error code is 11566453

please help, i really want this to work.

couple of things to verify
1. the launcher and gameclient exes are set to run as admin
2. try either lowering the resolution or go in the launcher option section and use safe mode
The game does have some problems with certian screen resolution.

look in the cyrptic studio folder and in the games /live/logs/gameclient folder for the crash, error, shutdown log files for any error messages . the latest entries are at the end of the file and formated yymmdd time

tried all and none worked, finally uninstalled and reinstalled and it seems to work, although i got a version mismatch, im updating the launcher and see if it still works, but good so far

Edit: after that tiny 100mb patch it seems to do the same thing at the character select screen just before the characters load....

Edit: aperantly it decided it needed another patch, this is frusterating

110929 18:58:58 19 Client[0]: GSM_Quit(). Reason: emEditorMain or utilitiesLibShouldQuit()

that is what the crash report says
