Well the ealy screenshots of the Quad cannons did show a Bird of Prey with those, so chances are good we get them too...

For the Quad cannons itsself: The best and simpest option would have been to do the obvious and simply change the Defaints visuals to what they should have been in the first place.

But well, we'll see what the actual point of those new cannons will be...

I agree! PvE and RPers will never have it though. Given past experience I'm concerned. New and unbalanced is too exciting, lol.

That depends on how you view it, there are no reward weapons with [dmg]x3 yes, however there are loot weapons with [dmg]x3, and [crth], [crtd] and [acc]x3 as well.

And [dmg]x3 is the worste of the mods to have.

Right, becuase in the history of the arms race as we no it, no person or goverment has ever attempted or duplicated anothers technology to keep abreast of their enemy.

Cloaking is the trademark of the Klingon on Romulan peoples, and the one that the Defiant had in canon was destroyed - yet it still exist in STO everywhere.

I doubt that the Quads will be just a Defiant-only equipment. Escort certainly, Dreadnought Cruiser makes sense, On the Raptor and possibly BoP- most likely.

Heh, what I find funny is that I've fallen prey to this, and others are continuing to fall prey to it.

They keep releasing these low end ships, that no one in their right mind would buy(I mean, why would I, who has three admirals, buy a Tier 2.5 ship?) with special consoles that are uberly awesome at end game. Most people aren't buying the ships, they're buying the consoles, because I doubt any admirals are out there using the Rhode Island variant, but I bet you they are using the console.

At least with the Venture, there is a Galaxy-R at end game that can use teh model, as well as the Galaxy-X(the reason I got it, since it's the best looking Galaxy variant yet), but, yeah, tons of people are just buying it for that extra SS.

I'm going to take a wild guess that the new quad cannons will be tied to a C-Store ship. It's the only way it makes sense. Every single bonus we've gotten for the Feature Episodes were things that all careers could use. Adding in an uber weapon that only a small population can use(let's be honest, a large portion of Tacs are in Cruisers and Science Ships, because Escorts are made out of wet tissue paper) as a FE reward would be counter productive, unless of course they were going to come out with equally awesome beams as an alternative.

I'm getting a little sick of this PvP vs PvE vs RP attitude.
This whole discussion has nothing to do with it but then someone feels like he has to drop some comment like the one above. I understand that PvPers are always "vs other people" but please try to contain your competitiveness here.

I am no role player but I believe RPers could be delighted by a purely visual option. Also I am preferring PvE and I also prefere a visual solution to a mechanical one. So please don't make wild assumtions of what other people will "have" or not. Thnx :-)

i had a feeling they were going to handle the quad cannons wrong, they should be replacing dual cannons as a real counterpart to dual heavy's. a switch should be flipped and all duel cannons should become quad cannons.

the current duel cannons should be a weapon that splits the difference between the duel heavys and dual beam bank. so less damage but more arc. would be useful in duels between 2 cannon using escort and on klingon cruisers users that want something stronger then single cannons

so an easily abuseable PTW weapon huh? lame

I wish Cryptic would warn us when things are going to be a C-store item before they give us hints and teasers of future updates, instead of setting us up for disappointment. Like when they revealed MVAM, there was no mention of it being C-store. Everyone gets excitied, thinking it's just an update to the game with something that should have been there from the beginning. Then we get a release date and out of the blue it's a C-store item. The same happened when Cap'n Logan started talking about how they're dedicated to adding KDF content, and he's going through all the tiers to add the missing ship variants. Now they're all coming out on the C-store. Everyone was excited about seeing accurate LCARS in that blog... another C-store item. Now I think it's happening with the quad cannons. I was excited about it being updated. Again it's something that should have been there from the start. We'll probably have to pay extra to have more accurate looking phasers as well.
