Are you missing the reason why they are doning this? So the player will say heck with this and purchase a Tier level ship from C-Store. I dont think they will scafice $$$ income.

Oh no, we understand. The problem for Cryptic is, instead of saying "to heck with this" and buying from the C-Store, a lot of players have decided "to heck with this" and are leaving the game.

I quit. I haven't so much as stepped foot into STO since seeing this utterly disturbing trend. I'm not sure if this is cryptic...CBS or perfect world...though I'm willing to blame the latter....since none of these bone headed ideas existed until PW took over.

You Know i used to grind. Hell I played wow...and dragged a friend who was Anti-wow into it with me and one time. It was a grindy game. I've played ****. Pretty hardcore as well. Eve online was also grindtastic...there is a reason I play STO beyond the fact it is star trek. Because it was casual. because it was easy fun and relaxing. I made a lot of friends and a few painful memories in STO. things I would not trade for this world....

I don't have the time to grind anymore.....and Now seeing my beloved game being turned into...and Im sorry to say this...A cheap Korean grind MMO has upset me beyond words.
This is not how you treat star trek. this is not how you treat STO

and most importantly.

This is not how you treat your playerbase!

My Fed 51 levelled before the discount tokens. That system was simply inacceptable, which is why they changed it.

My KDF 51 had to wait 1 day to purchase my BG ship. I don't think that's ridiculous. If I had done all the Explos and dailies while levelling up, I likely wouldn't have had to wait that day. All the other ships I had the Dilithium to get immediately, or had to go run a single mission for more Dilithium because I was a few hundred short.

However, since Feds don't have access to the Pi Canis patrol missions, I could see them having a significantly more difficult time with that. Perhaps they need a similarly quick and easy repeatable they can use to get Dilithium?

I don't feel that the current system for getting your first new ship is completely ridiculous. Perhaps one or two missions you didn't want to do have to be done. Perhaps you feel you shouldn't even have to do those. I can understand and see that viewpoint, I simply don't agree with it.

The grind comes once you start looking at STF gear, however. 30 missions for each Mk X Set item (granted, Infected space takes 15 minutes unless your team is undergeared and/or incompetent - that's only 7.5 hours if you can sit at the computer for that long, and get lucky on groups). 60 Missions for each Mk XI Set item. That's a minimum of 84 hours of actual game time to kit up to Mk XI, so that you're geared to run the Elites...

There are other issues as well but I think that is what the OP is lamenting.
Well the lockdown or restricting content is a seperate issue than the costs.

As for a ship, the discount token is fine. I had unfortunately leveled up before it was in through Lt. Cmdr and Cmdr. and made the mistake of purchasing the ship at Lt. Cmdr. So I just chose to dtay in it and I only missed my Cmdr. ship. By the time I hit Captain the dicount token was in there, I had the extra dilithium from Cmdr. rank up so I had no problem getting a ship at Captain and RA.

The costs for gear, well that has been said to be an order of magnitude off. That will be fixed as well as more hook-ups to the dilithium system.

Now what I want to see is the B'Tran setup for all exploration clusters and defends, the first time you get a scaled reward of dilithium ore but then you can repeate them like we can now for a level appropriate reward. Or in fact, just keep them the way they are on holodeck timer-wise, let us choose dilithium or level appropriate like for the Foundry Mission hook-up but the catch is you can only choose the dilithium reward once a day. It should be the ore reward that is given once a day, not the content.

Its a shame Cryptic doesnt realize its a bad, bad time to start this "NGE" stuff. With TOR on the horizon, i cant see many people putting up with this nonsense. This isnt asia, the F2P Frenzy doesnt work here, people would rather play a fun game not a grind game.

Sorry if this has been mentioned but...

It currently takes ten days to grind out a delta flyer and you are moaning it might take you up to a week for a T5 ship.

Get some perspective and stop being a moaning little baby.

i am in the camp that says people should get a free ship at rank up. i just think that should be the case, and it just simplifies things but since the last patch i have been levelling a klingon.

i have had very little problem getting my ships at each rank up. This is bearing in mind that the level speed has been increased and you will have much more time to earn your dilithium. borg events, doff, mirror universe, star clusters, lore missions. its been pretty easy to do. i think i was slightly under when i hit captain and slightly over when i hit BG.

The original problem was highlighted because many people had started levelling feds very quickly when the system was not fully set up on the first build (its still not fully there yet) and it made the situation far far worse than it is in reality after the second patch.

I still think people should be getting enough to get a free ship, but if they keep it as it is then im actually coming round to the idea. its kind fun having to plan out what you need. if you cant get your ship at rank up, its not the end of the world. game is still playable in your older ship for many many levels plus if the new c-store is to be believed, lower level plus 1 ships are coming down in price making them much more attractive.

the downside is ive not really had enough to buy the weapons and gear i need and it is possible to screw yourself out of a ship if you dont pay attention to what you are doing and sell you ship dilithium by accident. im also not a fan of lower level daily star clusters not giving out dilithium. they all scale and even if the xp does not they are still tough missions and they should have some dilithium with them.

but overall the situation is not as bad as its made out to be and future patches should be easing the situation.

they drop rare salvage as well. ive picked up a few nice pieces pretty quickly including 2 of the space shields from the sets, and about 5 standard mark x and xi items.
