Well although I agree with all Issues Black has with lower tier ships access, I wouldnt like them to stay out entirely.

But: there should be some kind of compensation for low tiers in, especially because of thier lack of firepower (abou experience: Well MOST of the low tier players have VAs... ).

My suggestion is (and was since those RAs went live) to allow a bigger number of "low tier" players. Instead of one VA may be 3 or 4 LTs, 2 or 3 LCs... at least 2 cmdrs... Well Captains can already handle themslefs okey.

Third, lower lever ships simply dont have the fire power, armor or ability to take on the borg. Fourth, The borg missions are restricted to a higher level for a reason but the red alerts are open to all players I fail to see the logic in this equation, if you are going to restrict the Borg missions to the higher level players and borg space to the higher level players shouldn't you restrict the Red Alerts as well. As a Vice Admiral in the game I have lost many red alert instances due to lower level players probe farming, simply not having the capability to fight the borg and not having the experience, to fight the Borg. So please restrict Red Alerts to the rank of Rear Admiral and above.
I disagree 100% . keep Red Alert the way it is theres already to much restricted contect in the game

Every time i am in a red alert, the players always look at the others with hesistation before charging in a group 1 at a time. my toon; celise, that one uses a defiant and i have been killed so many times on this because the players are focusing to much on the small stuff and not enough on the sneaky plasma super weapon backraping them, and the cheek that other players wont even help them. this whole thing fails every time, not due to a lack of firepower, but a lack of coordination and teamwork to use strangths against weaknesses. The last time Celise was in a fight, there was a Negh'var warship player and he always stood off instead of engaging in combat to take the damage, i don't have a snowballs chance in hell most of the time against unimatrix v'ger ships without that player. With some help, i have personally demolished 60% HP from it in one sitting at one point before the timer ran out, so it's possible.

I do not agree with the limitation on higher ranks, infact i will oppose it at every turn being a new player supporter, they have as much right to play and enjoy the content as you do to leave it and do an STF.

As a new player who only started this week I love the red alerts the way they are now. The Borg should be WTF scary. It was great the first few times I went into them I got one shot lol. Am fed up off all the hand holding that goes on in most MMO's these days. I would guess the best way of doing this would be going in with a Team of people from your own fleet on voice comms treat it like a raid. Pugging it does seem very hit and miss but that's the way it should be. Pugs = fail always despite what blizzard has tried to teach the world (cross realm raid LFG tools FFS *******)

This game is great cause it feels old school doesn't try to play the game for you have to actaully read things and figure some stuff out through trail and error. Hell you even have to research the net for advice on some stuff. My only complaint is that death is meaningless at my lvl anyways.

The moment those Borg open up and start one shoting federation ships was fantastic me and my friend both said wow feels just like that seen from First Contact for me that's worth more then worrying about getting the accolade for completing it. Things like that make a game great but they are not easily measured and therefore are more and more over looked these days. For me STO has been a very pleasant surprise indeed

The main problem I see is that many players go straight for the Cubes and forget the spheres, guess what, you aint going to finish the quest if you dont wipe out firstt he spheres and then go for the cubes, the same with the mothership, get rid of the regenerating probes first and then go for the mothership, keeping an eye for new regeneration probes. The last 4 red alert I have done have failed because of that reason.

Actually if i'm in a group of higher level ships I prefer to target the cubes, especially if the group is lacking in firepower. A single decent Escort can clear the mobs of 2 Cubes with ease whereas the spheres and probe groups are a nightmare to destroy with all those shield drains flying around. If there are a lot of lower level players though i'll tend to look for the sphere groups and get them (the lower level players) in team, that way I can clear a lot of the probes and spheres and they'll get more XP. Won't help against the command ship but at least they get something out of it.

No wait he did fly around aimlessly

I here what everyone is saying and maybe they shouldnt be restricted, but there should be something that does compensate for the lower level players, but then why dont they open up all borg content to all the players, I have two ship an escort and a intrepid refit, mostly people loose because they dont work together and people dont know how to use there abilties, the key to the instance is picking a leader and he leads end of story, and everyone should follow where he goes. After that take out the groups of spheres and probes (these are alot easiser to wipe out) then when the unimatrix ship comes designate one or two ships to target the probes and the rest target the mothership this is best way to win the instance. However a compensation system need to be put in place for the lower level players and players need to stop probe farming, i loathe and despise probe farming, I have lost way to many instances that way.

There are quite a few of those unfortunately. It's almost funny when they aggro a Tac Cube whilst zipping around and end up tractored whilst being pounded on by the Spheres and probes.

ive only been playing this game for about 2 months..i have an escort ship at VA with which through the help of freinds ive managed to equip quite well..im now very familiar with my abilities and can use them as such...i too have run into issues with probe farmers..indecisive groups breaking off in different directions when taking on cubes and spheres or low end people coming in and just becoming spacedust on the first volley. All this said..my BIGGEST complaint would have to be people that either refuse to group with the rest of the force..or who dont help in any way shape or form to the overall goal of the mission. With RA's being one of the few ways to acheive emblems and gain the better gear many of us need...this kind of thinking just makes no sense at all..i think there should be a vote system to bounce people like that out of the mission and allow a fresh player that might be trying to get in to join in instead..thats my 2 energy credits for the day
