Just reached VA and went to speak to Quinn. He said his blah blah and told me to report to Shipyard to get a new ship, said I had a requisition thing. Upon going to the shipyard and looking at escorts (Tac Officer) the only 2 escort ships for this level were C-Store only...

Now on Holodeck I can purchase 'one' of these ships via a requisition token, or from the C-Store. We were told that all ships would be available in-game somehow. Am I to understand now that the only way to get a VA ship on tribble (Or in F2P) will be from the C-store?

I hope this isn't the case, and needless to say was really annoyed at not having a ship to get at VA level.

Can someone please advise if this is correct or a bug oversight? (Which I am really hoping is the case)

As near as I can tell, it is working as intended though the changes are nowhere near complete. I believe that the VA level ships will eventually be achievable ingame but through an extensive grind with no discount or plaque to reduce the cost or make it a free ship.

Keep in mind that anything available via C-store points will, technically, be available through in-game means once the Dilithium<->C-store exchange goes live.

This is working as intended from what anyone has heard, you have to buy your ships with real money now apparently at cap.

Apparently, being able to trade Dilithium for C-Points is considered an "in-game" method by Cryptic. Go figure.

I think its because they are going to replace the current Defient retrofit with the +1 model, that has quad cannons, which I am very much looking forward to using.

But being a VA tac on tribble I am currently frustrated with being forced to fly a fleet escort when I should be in a defient retrofit, and I will be extreamly angry if I can not get said ship without having to pay for it in c-store, when it comes out.

Also what will happen with the people who already have a Defiant retrofit on holodeck, will they loose their ship and be foreced to buy a new or will we be given a shinny new defiant with quad cannons?

Indeed, i thought everyone knew it was in-game when "someone" pays real money for your ship. :p

From the latest Dev Blog (Posted after I started this thread)

Oh, and before I go, we plan to re-instate the free starship token at the Lt Commander and Commander rank for all players. We plan to continue the discount token for Silver players at the Captain and Rear Admiral rank, while Gold players will get the free starship at those ranks (if they are a subscriber at the time of rank-up). We do not plan to have any free starship at the Vice Admiral rank.

Wow so much for the promise Cryptic made to make all ships available via in-game means. Just another retraction of promises and yet further ripping off Gold/Lifetime subscribers.

I've had enough of this crap. So far I'm failing to find a reason to continue paying for this game since everything is being taken and put into C-Store so we have to pay over again...

Thanks for answering my initial question Cryptic...

so... you're upset that you're not getting the super spiffy VA ships for free.

The ones that are purely optional.

The ones that aren't notably better than any of the RA ships, to the point that most people continue to pilot the RA ships, even in STFs.

The VA ships aren't even really a tier of ship, they are just RA +1 ships. The Galaxy retrofit is to the Assault Cruiser/Star Cruiser what the Rhode Island is to the Nova. One of them (Prometheus retrofit) is even a direct comparison to that, being the same ship with a spiffy ability.

You're upset that if you pay a monthly subscription to the game, you're going to get every ship in the game for free, except for those ones.

Yeah, I don't think you should continue playing, you're obviously just looking for reasons to be upset at Cryptic, and that's a sign that you're not happy here.
