Ignoring the fact that the excelsior lost a console slot to get it, which is pretty huge in itself, the fact that it only adds 1 power setting to each system at the most makes it unworthy of consideration. Without doubt the worst console in the game. That is why the devs decided to change the excelsior back to the way it is on holodeck, even they accepted that the console was rubbish.

Let me ask you. If they had made Saucer Seperation a console and given it +1 to all power setting but NOT given the galaxy R an extra console slot would you call that a buff? Didn't think so.
lol, i suppose hale does as well. you are clearly very confused, you know that console can be unequipped right? its not stuck there permanently. the excelsior has always had the max number of console slots a tier 5 ship can have, and it didn't loose a console slot with the change. the retrofit ships and other c store ships always used to have 1 less console then normal to account for the special in combat ability you got instead. except for the excelsior of course, its special power is not an in combat power so sacrificing a console slot for it wouldn't make sense.

the excelsior's transwarp abilities got split up and shifted to a console, so what, that in no way effects combat performance. when you want to use transwarp, take the console out of your inventory and equip it and select your destination. when your there, swap the console back out. again, 0 lose of combat effectiveness, you don't have to keep that console equipped if you have something better.

the saucer separation is an in combat power, there's no comparing that with the out of combat transwarp power. when these changes happened the galaxy R had 8 consoles, the excelsior already had 9. there was no additional console slot to give, 9 is the universal tier 5 max.

I know, I was wondering the same thing! Also, I'm in total support for adding a tact console. I think the devs are afraid of hurting klinks feelings though.

its nothing the klinks don't have 1 better of already, with the negvar. it would complement the negvar quite well actually, besides being counterparts in canon and being each organization's top battleships, they would have the same station and console setup.

the differences would be that the negvar could cloak, use duel cannons, and turn a heck of alot better in standard form. the galaxy R would have 1 more device, and have worse or better maneuverability depending on whether the saucer is separated. the negvar's standard maneuverable splits the difference of the galaxy R's separated and unseperated maneuverability, at the expense of the galaxy R's durability.

i was hopping the change in science consoles might make them more tactically valuable, and they do for ships with more science powers then not. some of them do increase your defense against certain science attacks, then theirs a few others that buff offense science skill effect like before, but none of the healing science skills though as far as i can tell. the consoles are still mostly useless for a ship that has only 2 science powers. your still better off with a star cruiser if ubber tanking is your goal, or more effectively leveraging all 3 available science powers in a more tactical way.

slotting 3 of the new Emitter Array consoles that directly boost your shield hp and healing is a tempting option, along with a positron deflector that boosts shield hp and healing and your hull hitpoints as well. seems like stupidly overpowered items compared to everything else you could equip, in a cruiser or escort at least. seems like tanking is up, healing is down and dps is down with the new changes. hopeful that doesn't cause less fun

I hope it doesn't the Galaxy-R is Perfect just the way it is, it doesn't need the Tac Console you keep going on about.

If you want more fire-power fly a Assault Cruiser or a Galaxy-X, the Galaxy-R is NOT a Warship.

what you think it is is irrelevant, a tactical console would be more useful to it then a science console. the galaxy R is NOT perfect, its the worst cruiser. there's a cruiser that tanks better, heals better, damages better, and they all turn better and have better station setups. the saucer separation leaves you weaker, just as toothless, but at least you can turn better. the galaxy R is the opposite of perfect.

Well they cant put a simple stripe along the main hull of theSov,imagine care about an old ship like the Gal-R,specialy now with the nightmare of P2w,i mean F2P incoming.
Now all good ships will cost real money, they are removing from the game old ones like the t3 nebula and excel, its a total joke.

Are you kidding ?The Gal-R sux at support role, dps and my friend since in space combat you dont have an aggro skill to pull the targets attention towards you,you need deal some serious dmg to tank for real, and you can do it waaaay better using a Sov or an Excel refit.
That ship needs a serious rework botton up,is just a piece o junk.I remeber when i used my VA token and surprise,a VA ship less competent than a RA one,and to complete the joke back at time we coudnt even use full impulse during saucer separation, just ridiculous.
I want my VA token back, and some respect to such iconic ship.

i don't like the now +1 tier 3 excelsior and nebula because they cheated us out of a new Odyssey style costume for the Olympic and Cheyenne. they didn't even bother with new Odyssey style costumes for the excelsior and nebula, and the nebula only need recycle the venture costume. btw, seems like the exter costume could be recycled into a miranda costume, if they were so inclined. if they did make an Odyssey style costume for the excelsior, I'd have to point to the sovereign and say hey, that's the direct replacement for the excelsior right there, introduced 40 years ago. cease and desist all further development of the excelsior immediately!
