# 1 STO Forums, Still no Icon
10-17-2011, 01:09 PM

Update: I have discovered a fix for this issue, please check them out a few posts down if you also desire to have a sto icon on your browser tab & bookmarks. Or click here: http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...34&postcount=5

Hi,

I made a topic back in March about this, to which Wishstone replied about "checking with the webbies about it". I'm just wondering if anything came of it.I've resubmitted a ticket on the website, #1215251 - that will hopefully find its way to the webteam.

Quote:
I have these forums bookmarked and as with many mainstream internet browsers you can store bookmarks on a tab bar across your browser for easy access. These bookmarks often show icons related to the site itself. I was wondering if anyone could reply if they see some icon for our STO forums as I only see a small blank page icon as opposed to say a Star Trek Arrow/Combadge logo for example. I have many other webpages bookmarked and they all seem to push their own bookmark/tab icons when saved/active.

I could not find a more suitable forum section for this question. I guess this is aimed at the web team if Stormshade or Wishy could raise this insignificant question it would be great, but I would like to hear from my fellow gamers.

This is the case for me with:

- Firefox
- Chrome
- Safari

Thanks
Perhaps this has changed for other forum users in that time, I still experience the same thing, and while I understand USS Cryptic is at maximum warp for Encounter F2P - it would add little touch of something thats been missing for a long, long time.

Can we please get the tab icon from the main website added to the forums please.

Left side (Default World Icon in Chrome) - Right Side (STO Main site Icon)

Thanks again.

it'd be nice to have that. I'm honestly more concerned with the other stuff they're working on at the moment tho this wouldn't realyl affect the devs. This is purely a web department project

My thoughts exactly. I'm sure the web team is pretty active in their own right though - but to make things easier... if they could just slot in this Icon from the main site...

I've even found the icon itself as stored on the STO site

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/themes/startrek/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

GIVE MORE FAVICON PLOX!

Ok so, after a little searching for Chrome I've discovered an extension which will let me put this to bed (at least on my side).

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...earch&hcp=main

This is the " I hate your Favicon " extension, or rather " I hate your LACK of favicon " extension in my case. What it does is it adds a small option box by the address bar which you can click when on the site with the favicon you dislike, or one without a favicon (STO Forums), and you can substitute one in.

Its best to use the main sto forums address first, so go to that -> http://forums.startrekonline.com/

Click the button, and substitute with this favicon (STO symbol) http://www.startrekonline.com/themes...ek/favicon.ico

Try a few pages, reply, open topic etc... after a while it should work without issue, and give those barren iconless pages an icon!

hurrah!

There is a similar extension for Firefox users, here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...icon-picker-2/

Well, I guess MY ISSUE is solved for now, but it would be nice if the STO web team could take two seconds to add this after nearly two years. It really presents STO as more professional and awesome imo.
