As much as I hate pv'ers coming into this subforum professing to "know the score", you sir have won Superbowl pool with this one.

That's okay, because they won't be able to pull one over on the new F2p'ers either. They will see the craptasticness the game is and even more people will spread bad word about the game than ever before. And then the Asians will get hold of it and they will put up with even less of the shenanigans. Cryptic will be the embarrassment of the MMO community when they barely break 100k active f2pers after the first 60 days.

Hey, I just follow the dev tracker here; I usually don't even know I'm on the pvp sub-forum until someone mentions it. I swear I don't come here looking for a fight. And we weren't fighting anyway.

All I want is for pvp skills to work differently than pve skills. Once that happens, I'd like to see some kind of pvp council that can dictate changes to pvp skills perhaps on a weekly or monthly basis to take into account the changing metagame. I do trust you guys to know what's what in pvp; I just think pve is a different game. Look at sci vessels as a prime example. The best ships in pvp, the worst ships in pve. Escorts are the opposite, and I know escorts.

A council would be good but no way a company like cryptic would get a green light from the powers that be to hand over PvP QC to the player base.

IIRC There were 2 game councils before and they were as productive as a fat girl at a salad bar.

Unfortunately all true.

I am pondering to create a thread that really collects all these differences and tries to express what is "wrong" there. PvE and PvP are like night & day. Or maybe more like peanut butter and the color blue?

Good post, Heezdedjim.
But I am not that smart. I am getting smarter every day, though.

Nah, good PvP in STO is worth fighting for! If everyone in the world went along with what the leaders said, the world would never progress! To make things better, you have to make yourself heard! Giving up is the easy way out, but it will never make you happy!

Maybe making pve more like pvp would work, enemies using varied sets of boff powers against players like how pvp goes, keep it a bit simple since the AI won't be able to work them too well, and have the NPCs slowly use more powers like LT is same as now, but by Captain they've got just as many powers as players, ofc there would have to be fewer enemies in game.

My kind of stupid.

Don't think this will ever happen. They failed to do it with the Borg revamp. They didn't even bother to upgrade the Borg Cube to a Dreadnought NPC.

I could acredit it to Cryptics dislike of PvP, the PvP crowd or Cryptics following the moneycrowd to placate the masses of STO.
I could, but it would be unfair to Cryptic to assume they are placating the 82% in deffirence to all other types of players again that led to the flame wars of the past.
For all I know they just don't plan to fix PvP until after the F2P conversion due to the upcomming SKill changes, combat ability changes and the DOff system.
For all I know, Things may change enough that PvP may be thrown on its ear and everyone must relearn the system again and the Devs wait to see what comes from it.

As to completely disregarding PvP all together. It may be the case.
It also took them 2 years and a change of ownership to finally start building a better KDF.
PvP may just be the lowest thing on thier list but I doubt they have thrown it to the wolves.
PvP is too easy a "impulse push" for the Cstore to sell things. Egoes run high in PvP, as any competition, and where there is ego there is someone willing to buy an advantage to stroke thier own. I doubt PW will let such a chance escape to push more micro-transactions.

Sufficed to say your other post made it sound like the Devs are ignoring PvP due to the nature of the egoes involved more than anything else and I do not believe that to be the case.
In fact I do not know why the Devs seem to be ignoring PvP at all.
All this doesn't explain the Foundry being ignored though.

They have tried and came close at several points but unfortunately we still have NPCs that will hit EVM and then not move, or TB when they are facing away from you, etc.
I think it can still be done but without a good knowledge of how to code it ingame, I am at a loss on how to implement it. Other than theory.
I do feel it needs to be a priority though as the current PvE combat is fun but unimaginative..

They can't handle the amount of stuff they have on their plate right now. Nothing is done to completion. Separating the skills, rather than making them work in an intelligent manner from the start, would help a thin work force exactly how?

We need focus.
