Maybe that was unclear, but if it was; I think that the basis for ignoring anything is simple economics; usually the simplest and most reliable motive for a business doing anything. On the flip side, I definitely do NOT think that it is anyone's winning personality that had anything to do with smart, productive suggestions being instantly adopted and rolled out for the DOFF system. It doesn't hurt to be polite, but that really has nothing to do with it.

Changes happen because someone is given the priority to make them happen, and if someone didn't suggest a particular change, then the person tasked with working on a thing will probably figure it out anyway. And even if everyone on the forums is being a rude screaming brat about some existing problem, changes that need to be made will get made . . . as long as it's someone's job today to make them. It all comes down to what someone has been told is Job #1 today, not who is asking or how they do the asking (but how many people ask does help to decide what the priorities are to begin with).

My point was just the people seem to expect the amount of attention paid to PvP is going to change, and after seeing what's going on right now with Tribble, and what's gone on for almost two years with PvP, I think that is just a flawed premise. When they want to change something; man, they change it, and they change it quick. And when they want to do good work, they do really good work.

And when they don't care, they really, REALLY don't care.

Yeah, I think you're speaking the truth. It makes me quite sad to be quitting the game, but when your plea's for change can only fall on deaf ears for so long before frustration sets in. At some point the only thing left to do to make a point to the developer is stop putting money in there pocket if there not willing to put any of it into developing or even fixing pvp.

Heez, I dont recognize your handle. You kind of came out of left field with these posts that seem to be right on. Any chance your a double agent dev trying to spell it out for us in a cloak and dagger sort of way? More likely Hurley on a second account i suppose....lol

No, it was clear enough to see by daylight. I found it honest as well, if not a little brutal in being so.
Was more curiuos if your observations where driven by a dislike of PvP or a grasp of the "goings on" of Cryptic, is all.

Dstahl...that's funny. Hey D, you still living in west Seattle? I'm literally about 15 minutes away. Maybe I'll come over and you can teach me how to play halo...

IIRC, dstahl is moving to San Francisco, where is financee and child are waiting for him. It is mere speculation* that he left Cryptic and PW due to disagreements over business plans for F2P STO and found Zynga morally more acceptable.

that's just not true! dStahl is just another name on the long list of people I have lost to Farmville... damn addictive, that's what it is!

Nice try, but PvPers will find out how to to min-max the new skill tree in the same way that they've min-maxed the old one. Even if certain builds become easier or harder to spec for, a few skill points here or there isn't going to majorly change balance. It does look like you can apply more passive bonuses to your ship, but that's true for all three classes.

But lets assume that it does change the balance points somewhat. So what? A lot of the issues we have with balance are mechanical. Things like AMS, torp GCD, and TS. The fact that sci/sci has far too many goodies and tacscorts don't have enough isn't going to change with the skill revamp.

That's less of a symptom of PvP and PvE difference, and more a symptom of PvE in this game being terribly sucktastic. NPCs are helpless HP meatbags, so of course the only thing that matters is doing as much damage as possible. If STO were properly designed NPC ships would use enough abilities that it made sense to debuff them, and be enough of a threat to make playing a healer or tank viable.

Good news everyone! Even if there will be no pvp changes coming "soon" (aside from lol consoles / power changes), tribble has fixed one glaring issue with STO.
