# 1 Defiant - R, Build help
11-01-2011, 01:55 PM
Heya guys. I only dabble in pvp from time to time, i mostly pve. Im a Tac, and im wondering, I see alot of Defiant - R do significantly more concentrated damage than I do. I currently use 2 duel cannons, 2 quantum torps, 3 turrets, and 4 of the best cannon damage mods. Is this a bad pvp weapon set up? Any advice appreciated, thanks

yes, to really do the heavy dmg you need dual hvy cannons, maybe a dual beam bank and 1 torp front.

also, you need to list the powers youre using. that will help.

At a quick glance (assuming you want to use torps and no beam skills), switch your dual cannons to dual heavy cannons, load 3 of them up front and drop a torp launcher. If you want to load one in the rear, that's a judgement call you will have to make but it's rare to see an escort with a rear launcher.

Cannon rapid fire 3/1 high yield 3/2. Id rather avoid the beam if possible, any front cannon only setup any good?

Any of your better escort captains will always be sporting 1 beam array, for beam overload at the very least. Shield resists/buffs are just too much to try and overpower them using just all cannons/torps alone. You need something that will really hit hard, hence beam overload.

I can't make an all cannon build work but everyone else seems to do just fine. I have a hard time maintaining my firing arc (still >_<) but 3 DHCs with turrets in the back can be pretty painful. Don't underestimate the significance of the attack patterns. I loved Beta before Tactical Team but Omega is almost a requirement with all of the movement debuffs. Speed is life.

Adding Beam Overloads to an Escort does not necessarily mean more damage.

some of us posted in another thread a few days ago:

it's not specifically about defiants but you can easily transfer it. i hope this helps.

true, but it makes landing that high yeild 3+2 a lot easier.

I run an all cannon setup. You will lose a tac ens spot if you go this route. Idk, I have had every possible setup I can think of and never satisfied lol.
