I'm trying to figure out what purpose it serves to just reduce the stats for consoles across the board. Surely it can't be to make the game challenging. If that's what Cryptic is shooting for then why not tweak enemy AI? Why not make enemy NPCs able to use a few more abilities, like we do. Why not up their damage resists a bit?

Also can't be due to the new skill tree changes because after respecing on the new tree, my stats are basically the same as they were before or slight lower. So what gives exactly? What is the justification for all of this nonsense? And the nerfs to Sci... OMG! Why don't you just take the class out of the game?!

Ok ... these changes suck royally.

I REALLY don't like the tac changes as the beam / cannon consoles should be the same as energy type.

Engineering Consoles: Please put the majority of these ones back to what they were. Why would someone put on a +3.5 weapon console... that is very minimal. At least a +7 made you choose between that or some of the other special consoles (like the +35% to shields, etc.)

Science Consoles: Please at least double the current value.

Tactical Consoles: for weapons... I'm ok with that, although, the vast majority will move to a single weapon type to use vs. haveing a couple weapon types on their ship.

Also, many of the "energy" skills don't give you bonuses, or very minimal. For example, I choose the Tier 5 weapon skill, to bost my 115 setting (100 + 15 for escort), and by putting 9 points into it, my level was still 115. For a Tier 5 skill, it just isn't worth it.

I'm ONLY listing the consoles with CHANGES. Anything not listed should be the same as before.

Tactical

Changes here are simple to understand.

Consoles that buffed a damage type (Phasers/disruptors/chronitons,etc.) now gives +26% buff to that damage type.

Consoles that buffed beams or cannons now gives +18% buff to all energy damage.

Consoles that buffed torps or mines now gives +18% kinetic damage.

So, some comments.

This is a massive change to science consoles and in no way are the old consoles useful to the new skills. Not even close. Not only are most of them useless for their old intended purpose, but this means that people are going to have to buy new consoles to replace the old effect.

Because of this I highly suggest you implement a console exchange NPC that lets you change your old consoles for new ones, or give the dilithium back or something. People should not be forced to spend a ton of dilithium at F2P launch just to fix their consoles.

Tactical consoles seem to be back to the old standard that was changed a while ago. No one is going to use weapon type consoles, only the energy types. Remember why you guys changed that originally? The cannon/beam/torp consoles were never used because they buffed weapons less than just using the appropriate damage type console. This again makes it so anyone who uses one damage type, yet uses weapon type consoles gets screwed when they would have been better off if they used damage type consoles instead.

The changes to engineering consoles are just inexplicable. Why reduce their value? The only one that kinda makes sense is the hull repair console.
Very disturbing to say the least. Anyone from Cryptic care to explain this debacle?

I"m ok with this so long as old equipment can be turned in for dilithium equivalent to the cost of the new equipment.

Woow.. this looks bad, really bad....
Now I feel the need of replace my MX XI blue console for C Store consoles..

Maybe that is the intention with this nerf?

Ultimately, this would not surprise me considering everything else Cryptic has done to date.

I fully support Cryptic in nearly everything, including this skill tree revamp (I actually like it), but yes, it is quite obvious that what you said is true.

Make free consoles suck, in turn making the C Store consoles more appealing, generating more income.

That said, I have no problem with it. $15 a month of C Points is plenty to buy what I'd want (even though I'm LT, I still buy a subscriptions worth of C Points every month).

Cryptic why is it you do something good then stab us in the back again? making consoles useless now is that really the way you want to go? You tell us things will not change much when F2P hits now if I am not mistaken, you are overhauling the skill tree, you are taking ships that were free and throwing them into the C-store where we have to buy them 1 per character not even unlock for account. You are ruining crafting by throw Dilithium in there and basically everywhere.
You really need to sit down and read the forums and get a clue as to what you are doing to this game that awhile ago was fun and enjoyable to something now that is a grind and not fun to play anymore.
