This is very simple:

Why should I be punished when competing against someone in this game simply because I want to also play the ground part of the game.


If you don't like this then you simply want to have an advantage over other people that also want to be able to play the ground part of the game.

That is the only valid reason to have no points in ground is to create an advantage vs. those who have speced into ground as well.

Some of you will say ......

But i don't play ground at all why should i be forced to spend skills there. Because the fairness of the game is more important that you having a system that allows unfair advantages. Not everyone can level up several diffierent charaters and specialize them all into space or ground. You should not be able to compete against them with your unfairly unbalanced character.

Why would you want to anyway ?

Well, the plan *is* to have two separate pools when the skill system is fully revamped.

The ground part of the skill revamp is planned for closer to when the build goes live, the space part is still in flux hence the testing.

yes i read that it is planned to be seperated but i am very passionate about it being seperated and i've noticed a few people complaining about the stated plan and don't want their complaints to ruin it actually happening.

Also a few have stated that they want a 1/3 1/3 1/3 split with 1/3 being free to go either way. I am passionately against that as well because it will still result in characters that are extremely unfair. 1/3 of points that are put into space will result in a 16 percent advantage over a equal character which is usually plenty to ensure victory.

I just want people to voice that they are in favor of fair balanced characters. I believe it is in the long term interest of the game.

I'll agree on that.

I'd like, honestly, to see a bump in total points, with a lower amount overall for space (my split would be something like 65k space and 35k ground). Also, a changed 'minimum to advance', especially in t1, would be nice (something like 6k perhaps).

The point would be that everyone would have the exact same amount to spend, so actual space or ground builds with the same points would be the factor, and not someone spending only on space and therefore dominating people who spend on ground.

I'd like to say I really hope they full separate ground and space skills, the game will be much better for it.

I have no reason to believe Geko intends to do anything *but* seperate space and ground completely. I think he hinted at it when he first was talking about doing the revamp.

sounds good, i'm sure the details of it all will require some working out, hopefully they don't rush this live, i'm fine with testing till we get it ironed out

As long as i'm not punished in space PVP for every point i put into ground... that is just not something i can live with long term (or in comparison to other players in PvE), I like to play on Elite but i shouldn't be forced to spend all my points on space skills to keep from blowing up constantly. Skill should suffice.

i just want more Skillpoints to spend period, as it is i barely can max out any of the space skills, and i put almost nothing into ground -> if that is split in two.... thats a NERF of everything and everyone.

what we asked for was to get rid of the 3 Tier 5 Cruiser skills and turn it into one Cruiser skill...
instead they changed it so that there isn't even a difference now between Cruiser/Sci/Escort

that's not what i asked for

we asked for the Weapon skills to be changed so that Phaser + Disruptor are not the only effective thing...
instead they removed any specialization and we can shoot rainbows now

thats not what i asked for...

the SCI skills... agreed they are confusing... but that was because of lack of documentation -> and that did not change with the new skilltree

we still have to reverse engineer everything to know exactly what happens...
i want to know ALL skills that are affected and i want to SEE all the numbers that are changed before i press the button.
i still gonna need my Excel spreadsheet and a Skill planner to see what comes out if i press a button.

The Sci Skills were only the ones with the weirdest Names, hard to remember and no idea what it does but the other Skills are no different in that aspect.

By now i kinda understand the thing, but i would need a new player that never played STO, but knows Star Trek good enough, to tell me if he understands the new Sci abilities any better.





anyway, one of the things we asked for also was that Ground + Space skills are seperated, that we get a difficulty slider for ground and space... and heck i would even want seperate graphics options for ground and space, those are by all means 2 completely different games.

...so we asked for separate skilltrees.

Did anybody ask for a REVAMP of the ground skills? EVER?
