yeah i agree with pretty much everything you said there

yeah based on my limited use of the new skill trees it really isn't addressing any issues, its at least if not more confusing then the old system. Once you understand the 3 skill chain attached to every ability the old system makes perfect sense.

I seriously do want an answer for this. (But, if the answer is 'Immersion', that's an insta-fail.)

(it's still very sub-optimal to fly a 'rainbow ship', by the way. With the changes in Tactical consoles, you are *definately* rewarded for sticking with one weapon type. However, now all you need is a set of consoles to change weapons, not a full respec, which is better).

so because you claim it isn't fair if people don't like ground and thus don't put many points into ground you want to force us to play the game your way? some of us don't like ground so we focus on space skills, you feel that is unfair....sorry but some of us don't like the ground portion of the game so how is it fair that the part of the game i like becomes gimped? You want to not feel at a disadvantage to players that focus on space skills? then focus on space skills.

all that will happen if they split ground/space is we will have even far fewer skills and be flying around in gimped set ups. As it is an escort actually trying to do DPS will be even squisher then they already are on holodeck, so in comes a forced split of the skill pool and then they can't even actually max out dps and will then have next to zero durablity. At that point you could literally sneeze on them with like 2 turrets to kill them.....i'm half joking.

Yeah, but everyone will have the exact same amount of points to spend on space skills. So, using your example, if you're a little squishier because you focus on DPS, other people who focus on defense won't be able to hurt you as badly.

The skill revamp is not going to make everyone happy obviously. (You can't please all of the people all of the time.) If nothing else, though, it will be *fair* because everyone will have the same amount of points to spend for space skills and for ground skills.

thats just it i don't think its going to be "a little" squishier. Escorts are straight up going to get the shaft when on top of not really being able to be as durable as it is they are further downsized when we get yet fewer skill points to put in space skills.

I am in NO WAY liking where things are apparently going

If you don't like this then you simply want to have an advantage over other people that also want to be able to play the ground part of the game.

That is the only valid reason to have no points in ground is to create an advantage vs. those who have speced into ground as well.

But i don't play ground at all why should i be forced to spend skills there. Because the fairness of the game is more important that you having a system that allows unfair advantages. Not everyone can level up several diffierent charaters and specialize them all into space or ground. You should not be able to compete against them with your unfairly unbalanced character.

Star Fleet would have captains train equally in each area. FULLY SPLIT GROUND AND SPACE CRYPTIC. You are gimping us and forcing us to choose between playing one or the other. We can't play both, not your way. Split them.

Personally I think they should be split up. You fly in space you get points for space, you do ground missions you get points for ground.

Now as far as whats fair and not fair...well life isn't always fair and that's why we have to make choices. Sometimes were forced to trade off one thing so we can do another.
