I don't quite get why the EPS and the Energy Consoles were nerfed with a change to skills.

Maybe it would be a good idea to just raise the basic energy transfer rate?

IMHO the key to the whole things is survivability. If a players ship is nerfed and it is a glass cannon .. few people like that (which is why so many like myself have just about abandoned the escorts) Make them too strong and another crowd complains ( Science captains complain that the escorts are too powerful and nothing more than an "I WIN BUTTON" for example)

I agree that the balance issue is a tough one to get right. Escorts, for example, depend upon speed, yet a player (if they are smart ) MUST devote huge amounts of power from weapons AND other resources for shields. Otherwise their glass cannon becomes extremely vulnerable. The very thing that is needed the most (power to weapons and the ability to move more quickly) are not as accessable in order to make the escort as affective as it could be.

(Yeah ... I know someone is about to post something to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about ... that's cool)

At any rate, I said that to say this: overly nerfing stuff in order to slow down the game is more than likely an over reaction to slow down the game. IMHO this the wrong approach. As many changes that are taking place this also the wrong time. The philosophy that what one person hates another will dearly love (in order to sooth the conscious of someone who is making the call ) is not very helpful to any one.

I'm just saying that before this goes live, some things need to be looked at and changes made to IMPROVE the game. I think all of us have seen enough nerfing to last us a good while.

I maintain my position that nerfing power consoles doesn't slow the game down at all. All it will do is make fights take a little longer. You get the same exp per kill and for completing the mission, so character progression is just as fast as it ever was. Without an explanation of why these consoles were nerfed, the nerfs seem pretty pointless.

I agree ... to a point. This is why I keep making the statement that this is simply an overreaction on the part of the team. Slow down the game? Not really. What it will do (more than likely) is frustrate the majority of those already on line.

New consoles and equipment? Nothing wrong with that as long as those new pieces actually compliment the new system. IMHO ... perhaps that is where the real problem is. We are talking abotu "nerf" when we should be presenting this as an "incomplete" matrix where the new componants no longer work as they should. Cryptic could keep the new stuff if they wanted to .. just rewrite some of the skill buffs, etc and make them fit the ships and desired skill tree better

I realize it's strange. BUT ... a game without players on board is little more than a lot of meaningless data, and art work both empty, and void.

Not strange at all. I just have to agree with others whom say, the Devs are really focusing more on the F2players to come in 2012
