# 1 It's time I found a fleet
03-03-2012, 11:40 AM
I'm an EST time zone player, evenings and night mostly.

A little bit about me: I'm interested in a fleet that can complete elite STF options and crystalline entity. I'm sick of public queues that can't even come close in STFs, and crystalline entity public queues are unmentionable. When you get a good STF team it's a beautiful thing, but more often than not you don't get that great a team.

I'm NOT interested in vent or teamspeak. I'm a typer. I've tried the teamspeak thing before, and it's too disorienting and distracting for a guy like me who's gamed for decades with only typing. Hey, we raided in EQ and PvPed in **** without teamspeak, so any notion that it's "necessary" is false to me , and for me personally it screws me up. I'm so used to typing and reading, and a real voice messes me up (literally messes me up. I make mistakes in game and can't concentrate).

I'm an engineer in a fleet escort currently, but want to try the dreadnought or maybe the new c-store odyssey. I actually prefer ground STFs over space (odd right?). I'm grinding for that prototype tech with zero luck so far.

Roleplaying is optional. I've found that roleplaying in games is often just standing around making up stories, rather than acting as your character or pretending you're part of the game's world. Standing around on bridges telling stories is not my cup of tea.

PvP - hmm. Never tried it in this game. Haven't seen the point. At least in games like WoW or **** PvP had some purpose, whether it's objectives or PvP gear or bonuses for your faction.

If you are over 30 years old then The TOS Veterans Fleet may be the one for you. We do use Mumble voice server but it is not mandatory. It is a lot easier to organize a fleet action if you can at least hear the commands and the help requests. I think you may find a lot of fleets feel the same way and most of us have been gaming for over 30 years and back then it was ONLY voice and not typing

In all seriousness we have a good group of guys where we have no rules and no bosses and all of our members are important to us. And we won't make you use mumble if you don't want to.

The {UFP} has a few players who handle the STFs pretty well, although I honestly don't believe they take on the Crystaline Entity that often. You should visit the website and take a look around and see if what we have fits what you want. Just click the siggy banner. I think you'll be glad you did. Tell 'em Stormy sent ya.

Good morning Uryenserellont,

We have a very active fleet who run STF's alot and have had alot of fun wiping on the Crystalline Entity, which can be fun too.
Although we have our own TS server, it's not an obligation to use it. More often then not, I do not log into it, because i either do not have enough time, or am just plain lazy

We do not roleplay in game, but have just started a new episode of our forum roleplay, which is alot of fun too.

I could make a long, long list on why you should join, but I want that you convince yourself! Check us out at www.3rdfleet.com

Happy gaming,

Wendsill

Unfortunately, yes I'm over 30. That means two things: I don't take gaming seriously (just look at my sig), and I don't act (too) childish ingame. STO's community seems to be a bit more mature in general which I like. It gets grade school weird sometimes like the "tribble name" and "USS name" chat games but that's no big deal; at least it's more pleasant than politics.

It's really late, I'll think about fleets some time tomorrow maybe, depending on how busy I am in real life. Thanks for the responses.

# 6 The 12th Fleet is looking
03-04-2012, 09:40 AM
I would like to put forward the 12th Fleet as a possible home for you. We have an active fleet with hundreds of captains that hail from around the world.

We have several divisions where you should be able to find a home.
Like PVP? We have our Tactical and MACO Divisions.
Live PVE? We have Exploration and Engineering Divisions.
Like Role Playing or writing? We have Medical for you!

We believe in being open and there are many experienced captains to help new captains with mission and advice.

Drop by our starbase, Valhalla, and take a look.

Good luck and look we forward to seeing you in game!

Don't know how to choose which I want to apply to. You all seem to have good fleets. Nobody ever responds to my requests for a fleet ingame (probably safer that way), and even the Cure Ground elite public queue I just completed the optional in didn't lead to an invite, and that's the best way to find fleets or potential members.

I'm more a TNG fan than TOS myself, and am only barely familiar with Voyager and DS9, but I do love all the movies. I also realized that I seriously despise talking on the phone which I'm sure is why I find using voice coms ingame so disagreeable and distracting. Talking face-to-face is great, but I've always hated phones. Don't know why.

I can understand the part about talking. If it helps, don't think of it as a phone but as a communicator to the other members of your team!

which is why I enjoy voice com in flight simulators, when people are practically roleplaying their parts. But I've also done the voice com thing in other MMOs and wanted to shoot myself. I want to reach through the monitor, punch them in the face and yell STFU, especially when someone starts raging or criticizing the way someone is playing.

But voice com in a flight simulator can be awesome.

Well, if you have not made up your mind yet I through in teh 2nd Fleet ORG to the mix. -> http://www.2ndfleet.org/

Yes, we do RP, but not the type where you stand around and make up stories. It is "action" based keeping the command structure within operations and enjoying the aspects of the game.

If you are interested contact wolf@wulfman. In any case, good luck finding the right fleet.
