I think ships should have two shield slots, i think this would make the game more intresting as players oucld equip different kinds of shields to there ships and there is a precendence for this in cannon as the soverign had both primary and secodary shield systems, what do you guys think?
They already do. It's an exploit and it's bad though, lol.'
It doesn't seem especially necessary to turn this into an intended feature. They'd have to make the two different shields mean different things or else it would just be redundant. Sure, redundancy has it's place in defense but for the purposes of a game like this that seems to over complicate things.
In my opinion, a new game mechanic should add an interesting level of game play or else it's just a waste of development time.
Would be cool to have like a secondary shield array, but make it fairly weak and more for different types of damage resistance. like, if your main shield is 10k then like your secondary one would max out at like 2k or something but include x damage type resistance.
they might have to make a lot of shields transparent to some types of damage to balance it out, kinda like the body armor system they have in place, which is interesting to be sure. then some would be stronger or weaker in hps. but then what skin would you have on your ship if say, you have the borg shield and the remen shield. or instead of a second shield, add hull armor, and take shields off the nx-enterprise. and then have not all ships have both-usually shields, and occasionally only armor, and rarely, both.
i dont think it would hurt any to have mutiple shield systems it would only add more challenge to the game.
Why stop at a mere two? How 'bout 147 shield arrays? While we're at it, I want every square inch of my hull covered in beam arrays and torpedo launchers. Also, I'd like an all Q bridge crew. And a pony.
