I think what it comes down to is that; Cloaks are banned from the tournament. So that also means MVAM mode should be banned from the tournament (And all other ships which have a 'special' ability should be banned. Problem is, right now thats only MVAM and Defiant.

I can understand that cloaks should be banned if its 2 defiants against each other. The tournament would take ages for someone to decloak. But isnt this what a defiant uses chooses as his/her ship? Its their decision if they run Defiant, Fleet Escort, Advanced escort or MVAM. I changed back to the MVAM because of tactical reasons.

Cloak is nice but its only a one timer and after that you can trecloak until you leave red alert. Thats what defiant users choose so they will have to deal with it, imho. You also choose to use defiant when you are queuing up for Arena. Pugging, Premade'ing, it doesnt really matter. Same is true for arenas.

I dont think its right to ban a ship just because cloaks are not allowed. I think that even cloaks are allowed unless it are 2 defiants against each other. Its perfectly balanced and fair that way. Defiant vs Defiant = both no cloak. Still evenly fair.

Defiant vs Mvam, Defiant allowed to use cloak, MVAM/AE allowed to use console. Also a fair situation. Defiant players choose the Decloaking Alpha strike maneuvre and tactic, which can also be a powerful ally. This could even mean an instant win in the tournament. (Depending on how skilled the enemy is of handling a decloaking Defiant). So it all comes back to where this tournament is all about.


Dont tell me us fellow PvP'ers that we cannot handle a decloaking defiant? Its 1v1, increase the volume of your speakers/headset and you will hear it soon enough when someone decloaks, and you can take measurements effectively right after you hear that. Thats part of PvP imho. One click on tactical team, subspace modulator, EptS, Evasive to just keep yourself out of his arc to counter an Alpha strike from a Deffy.

Well just my 2EC. But you will discourage alot of players to join the tournament this way

Well, it are not my rules, I don't see an issue with flying a regular AE without the console at least. It seems neither do the organizers, as they only exclude the console and the MVAM.

MVAM without MVAM console may be "debatable". But I think it makes sense.

Just in case this wasn't clear - I am not affiliated witht he 528th or this tournament, and I will not be part of it due to scheduling issues alone.
