This has nothing to do with Cryptic. Their servers are online and people that do not need to relay through Cogent are connecting just fine.
correction, this has everything to do with cryptic, they pay cogent to route the game through certain areas.. cryptic constantly tells us cogent is at the route of most of the problems with connection issues, they have been saying it for years.. so it is their problem that they have not fixed the problem (either by making a new arrangement with cogent, or going with another provider)..
Seriously, believe what you want. (I just knew someone was going to say that.) I did have an account, in fact I was in the open beta. But I stopped the account not because of the game but because I wanted to play another game and didn't want to pay for two subs. So I dropped STO figuring if Star Wars TOR wasn't any good I could always resub). I recently entered my retirement phase from the military and since I'm on "terminal leave" I have a lot of free time at the moment. Decided to try STO again. Doesn't seem worth the sub, at the moment.
Now if my telling you that is unpleasant to you for some reason, well, so be it. But you have no cause for calling me a liar, just because you don't like what I have to say.
It's not that someone didn't like your post. It's that right now people are trying to use this to either confirm that there is a problem or to try to help people solve it. He is irritated with you because you decided that instead of being helpful you wanted to vent your frustration. While I respect your opinion as I would respect anyone elses, there's no place for it in this thread atm. I also am sorry to say it but your comments might go further with customer service as all you are doing on the forums is deliberately trying to get people angry with cryptic and on your side in the matter. To be honest I don't really know or understand what you were trying to accomplish with this other than to make yourself feel better as you now have unscheduled free time on your hands. There is also the possibility that you're just trolling but as I know only what you told me about you and would like to give you the benefit of the doubt. I apologize for the length of this, but it's the truth from my point of view. Help or please occupy yourself with an alternate activity.

Having the same problem as everyone else. Did the tracer and everything after 12 times out. Don't see a need to add to the copy and pastes. I'm in NY. Cellphone tether is not an option for me.
I read a couple Post from here that players used their Iphone Hotspot to give their computer a network to use to launch the game, update it, start it, get to the Character Launch screen, then switch back to their Home Network, I did this and it worked, I am currently in game.
So everyone, if it is possible try to find another network other then your home one that Craptic knows about and get the laucher to update, since Craptic is taking for ever.
