I'm having the same problem now; I didn't get STO from Steam, and the problem only started today with the recent update. Every time I open STO the launcher update window appears and fails to connect.
I had it succeed a little while earlier but when the main launcher window came up it wouldn't display anything (it just said loading and never got any further).
Is there anywhere that the latest launcher version can be downloaded to install manually? We've had a lot of patches recently and on seemingly random days and yet they seem to be making the game less stable rather than more-so, as I had trouble with the launcher after the last patch as well (the one that added the Dominion lock-box stuff).
And despite being told to contact technical support, I still can't thanks to the fact that the damned support pages won't load! In a game that practically forces you to login on daily it's doing a very good job of making that as hard as possible to actually do?

welli used my p[hone network to get the launcher to run and got to the login screen then went back to normal network then connected and went to start a mission and what a surprise.... patching......
